I am not talking about a hemi by Chrysler. i am talking about a hemispherical combustion chamber and a spark plug in the center of that chamber!!! I am not disagreeing with you about the rings by the exhaust port melting and wrecking a motor. i am talking about TOO MUCH nitrous and not enough (octane fuel) shooting a 3000+degree flame at the center of the piston!!! I was TRYING to keep it simple because about 2% of the readers actually understand what you wrote DON!!!! (and I'm NOT one of the 2%!!!)
DON; I dont know if that came off the top of your head or through another website,, But let me tell you something.. if you pulled that from your head and really FIX SLEDS for a living,,,Brother,,, You're wasting good talent!!!! I am not even HALF that smart and the things i fix everyday START AT 30 MILLION DOLLARS EACH!!!! I think you're wasting good talent!!! Gary Oles nosboy

Good info guys just please keep it clean.
Apparently, Don and I have a thing about fighting with each other. I dont understand what he writes and he doesnt understand what I write. Maybe it's the way that i write it, My presentation STINKS!!! They used to tell me in school, It's not necessarily WHAT you say, its HOW you say it,,, Maybe thats the problem!!! MAY BAD!!!

I am not fighting, I just simply told you there is NO hemi head in snowmobiles and 2 stroke engines! I explained the differance between the heads, the old 1930-50's style was a "hemi" type head if you wish to call it that, its real name was the Quiescent design chamber, it didnt work! The rest simply explained the 2 stroke engine and where and why heat is moved from combustion process to the exh. pipe.
I had a 99 SRX with Mark Giamattei MEGA POWER heads. I REFER to a hemi head as a hemispherical "dome" if you will, with a sparkplug in the center of the dome... MAYBE MY TERMINOLOGY SUCKS!!! Everyone at work calls a 6 inch pocket scale a SCALE and I CALL IT A 6 inch RULER!!!! Everytime I ask someone for a 6 inch ruler,, they correct me and call it a scale.. I tell them a SCALE is a TRIPLE BEAM and its used to measure COCAINE or REEFER!!!! NOW CAN I USE YOUR RULER?????? They give me a CRAZY look and hand it over!!!!! So maybe its my way of PRESENTING the information that SUCKS!!!! I'm O.K. with that!!!

Hay nosboy, How does a 2 stage system work? Does it have two different nitrous solinoids and two fuel solinoids? Can it spray a little on the first stage, and full bore when the second stage is on? And is it possible to set one up for a sled? Nitrous is unexplored territory for me and I was thinking of useing it in my race car and possibly the sled. Also if useing nitrous in a sled, would a forged piston be better then a factory cast piston?
There are a bunch of different ways you could introduce nitrous into an engine.. yes, there are systems on the market that have progressive controllers that are adjustable from mild to WILD, 2 Stage systems, like you mentioned, are STILL IN USE today (two systems) BUT,,, there is a WORLD of advancements that make a 2 stage system basically OBSOLETE!!!! I've NEVER ran a nitrous kit on my racecar (YET!!!) I am right at SUPERPRO (it runs LOW TENS) and I want to keep running PRO for a few more years before i run with the BIGBOYS!!!! A 1000HP stroker motor on the bottle would put the challenger in the LOW EIGHTS and the chassis is only certified for 8.50,,, So,,you see,,, ANOTHER CAR is in the future!!! I saw a JET CAR on EBAY and I'm watching it (twin jets).. I'm NOT READY to buy someone elses headaches and I'd rather build my own!!! I'm pretty good with the GTAW (tig) and I know enough ( I HOPE) to put together a JET DRAGSTER!!! I have a friend who has TWO and he JUST retired from XEROX and MAYBE I could talk him into spending some time with me this summer... he wants to do the circuit this summer, so lets see what happens!!! As far as using AFTERMARKET pistons,,, YAMAHA pistons are SINTERED aluminum and sintered aluminum pistons are WAY BETTER than ANY aftermarket pistons out there ON THE MARKET!!!!! I'm SURE you could talk CP or DIAMOND into MAKING YOU SOME ABSOLUTELY WILD PISTONS,,, BUT,,, STOCK YAMAHA PISTONS are ABSOLUTELY THE WAY TO GO!!!! Depending on HOW WILD you want to go with a nitrous kit, you need to CERAMIC coat EVERYTHING inside your combustion chamber.. I had TEFLON coated skirts and ceramic coated domes, chambers and exhaust ports. I SPRAYED almost 100hp into that SRX!!! You MUST weld the crank,Different heads, different rods (homemade) different carbs, different exhaust, different primary and secondary, different belt, and homemade pipes... DEPENDING on HOW NUTS you want to go.. You could even go the NITROMETHANE route!!! IT WILL NOT START in the wintertime (although theres a guy out there that has one and it starts in the wintertime),,, but,,, MOTORS like that DO NOT LAST TOO LONG (about 10 seconds) and the cost is ASTRONOMICAL!!!! I'm STILL TRYING to figure out WHERE THEY GET THE AIR from for that TWIN JET car on EBAY??????????
LOOK AT THAT ON www.ebay.com its number 160081770946 ????????
The general Electric T58 makes around 1400 HORsEPOWER EACH and it needs 11,000 CFM of AIR through the intake EACH.. Thats 22,000 CUBIC FEET OF AIR PER MINUTE... I don't understand HOW you can sit in FRONT of the INTAKES???????????????
I'm thinking the AIR passes you around 275-280 MILES AN HOUR. I dont know how you can sit in front of those motors??????????????

since 1998-2002 the yamaha srx and the viper from 2002-2005 use powder forged pistons stock.
They are called SINTERED metal or SINTERED ALUMINUM!!!! Yamaha started the sintered metal pistons in their RACE DIRT BIKE programs in the EARLY 1970's I remember being a little kid (around 10 or 11) and seeing and hearing about sintered pistons.. I DIDNT know what sintered pistons were,,so I probably STOLE the neighbor kids dirt bike and took apart his motor to find out.. Needless to say, I DIDNT know how to put it back together without a BUNCH of spare parts, so it PROBABLY never ran again.. When my MOTHER passed away a few years ago, I had to clean out her garage to sell the home, I HAD SOME stuff in the rafters that I COULDNT TELL YOU WHERE it came from??????? I'm not bRAGGING, that was JUST LIFE in the early 1970's... My parents didnt have a lot of money and if I wanted a dirt bike or a mini bike. I HAD TO COME UP WITH A WAY to get one!!! When the CHICAGO POLICE caught you riding a mini bike or dirt bike, THEY WOULD TAKE IT AWAY FROM YOU and you would lose the bike!!! There wasnt any court appearance or any tickets or fines,,, YOU JUST LOST YOUR BIKE!!!! It went in the TRUNK of the squad car and AWAY IT WENT.. Needless to say, I LOST ABOUT 6 or 7 mini bikes and dirt bikes that way!!! It got to the point that you would RIDE LIKE HELL when you saw the police to try and get away!!! If they HAD TO CHASE you and THEY CAUGHT YOU, they would beat you up just because they had to chase you!!! one time I tried to make a corner at 40MPH and drove the BULTACO 370 FRONTERA right through someones GARAGE DOOR!!!! I was about 14 or 15 years old... They pulled me and the bike (i was laying by the garbage cans BLEEDING like a PIG) and put the bike in a paddy wagon and me in an ambulance!!!! Needless to say, I SPENT A YEAR trying to pay for that garage door!!!! Sometimes i wish I was BROUGHT UP in the CORN FIELDS!!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy
That BULTACO was probably the BEST dirtbike I ever owned!!! I DID BUY that one!!!! I don't remember how much it was (maybe around 1500.00???) but it SURE WAS the FASTEST dirt bike I ever had!!! I had a YAMAHA IT175 that was CRAZY FAST but NOT AS FAST as the BULTACO!!! NEEDLESS to say,,, CHICAGO's FINEST got BOTH of those bikes!!!! I like reminiscing about that stuff.. It was when the AIR WAS CLEAN and SEX was dirty!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

There is systems that have only one solenoid (nitrous and fuel) But control box will supply pulse signal at first stage to solenoids and second stage is fully open.
OLD systems had 2 seperate systems off on 1 nitrous feed and 1 fuel feed. They wired the smaller system for takeoff and when they got past the second shift 9and was in 3rd) they launched the second system!!!! Otherwise, they used a progressive controller to enrich the nitrous!!!!

No, Gary you are incorrect, the old pistons are cast. The srx and viper pistons from 1998-2005 are powder forged units. Its a brand new process in 1998 and they are stronger then the old pistons and lightweight, they dont expand like a billet forged unit does so they can run a tight skirt to wall clearance like a cast piston.
The earlier pistons and the mtn max red head engines use a cast piston made by ART, if you look inside the piston of vmax4's and such you will see the ART designation.
