Sounds like a typical SXR straight from the factory. I would start by playing with the fuel screws a little (turning them out in small increments). One mod I would recommend is the reed stopper notch, but you can go with spacers. One other thing to do would be to thin the head gasket by 1 or 2 layers. A simple and cheap clutch setup can be had with a few searches of this board. All of these mods will cost you nothing other than clutching and that can be had cheap. I did all this and it made the sled much peppier (if that's a word lol) on the bottom end and midrange. I didn't have any reliability issues at all (head gasket last over 5,000 miles until I had to tear the top end down and accidently damaged one of the gaskets (dropped it, stepped on it and put a crease in it). The mods were completely trouble free and like I said they wake the bottom and midrange right up.
