hi guys,
yesterday i road a friends sled which he had just put a 1.0" ripsaw track on. i could not belive the preformance this track provided on packed snow. it also did vary well in the powder. my question is, do any of you guys have a track like this on your sled? and do you think it is worth the money. after riding that sled i am thinking of buying one for my 98 v max sx 700. any feedback would be appreciated.

If it is the 1.25" Ripsaw track, it is so worth the money.
I put one on my 98 700 XTC-P this season and although I have only gone for 4 rides I can tell you that I love it. I has great hookup on the trail and not bad in the powder either.
If you do it you won't be dissapointed.
 
i had one on the sxr500. its a great track. the warrior i now have came with one. when i get around to it one is going into the et410 with a viper skid. that should get it to float in the snow!
 
Best upgrade EVER on my SX600R, I lost about 5mph on the top end (from 101->96mph on gps) but on hardpack it has tons of grip. Seems to do about the same in powder as the stock track though.
 
Was wondering are you all running studs too? I am looking to upgrade this summer & not sure if I need studs also or just leave the track stock. Thanks
 
i guess it depends on how much ice you ride on and the condition of your trails. i ride on the lake alot and in the trails too, but i keep my studs to a minimum. every track ive seen with studs wares out twice as fast as a non studed track. this is why i am doing alittle resherch on Ripsaw tracks. i would like to get away from studs completely.
 
yup they make a 1" ripsaw this year. I have the 1" hacksaw on my srx, and the 1.25" ripsaw on my Attak
 
Ive got a 1.25" Ripsaw on my '01 600 XC. I like the hookup but it has some wicked track howl at 30-50 mph.
It has almost no grip on ice though. I had originally planned to not stud my Ripsaw but that lasted untill I tried to take an icy corners the first time and I felt like I was in a drifting competition. In the icy corners its darned near suicide. This summer Im studding my Ripsaw. On icy corners you NEED studs and if a track is studded correctly, you shouldnt have durability issues. I got over 6,000 miles out of the stock studded track on my XC and I do not baby my sled.
Ive only got 300 miles on my Ripsaw so far, so I dont really think Im qualified to comment on its durability. So far, so good though...
