i thought the same thing until i seen one blow with 1600 miles on it. but i would still take my chances on buying one after seeing it done. I think you will have a good sled kimoaj. get some pics of the new sledOctane said:You shouldnt have to worry about shimming valves and replacing rings on the Warrior. The first valve adjustment isnt due untill 25,000 miles. Id bet that the engine will outlast the chassis.

Hi guys!
Thanks for all the replies, really appreciate them!
The Warrior is now parked in our driveway and I`m sitting here with a huge smile on my face.
I`ll make a little resume of the trip.
My boss and I both worked late Thursday evening so we drove straight from work and up to Tromsø, where the dealer was located. A friend of mine called Børge also joined us, nice with some company.
After 30minutes of driving this happened. We didn`t notice it.. discovered it when we stopped to grab something to eat. Glad we had spare tires.. .
It`s a 4hour drive or so, at 01.30 we arrived in Tromsø.
Went to the dealer and parked the trailer there so we wouldn`t have to park the trailer down town where the hotel was.
Found the hotel and went to bed.
I didn`t sleep a single freaking minute, I was so excited about the sled.
So I felt kind of bad in the morning hehe, wellwell.
Went to the dealer 09.00 and there I found her.. I walked around her.. and a huge smile appeared on my face.
The previous owner seemed like a nice "owner" to have. He had taped off the tunnel around the lift bar at the end, so that there wouldn`t become scratches there went stapping the sled down in the trailer.
It also had a cobra short silve windshield.. I didn`t know that.
The dealer had installed a brand new battery because they had borrowed the battery from the warrior in order to get another sled running.
When I popped the hood I got (or what I atleast think was) a nice surprice, it had K&N filter with Outerwears prefiler. Dealer said that someone claimed that the filters would give it 18hp`s extra in the midrange area.. dunno about that.. but they for sure makes the sound deeper.
Lifting the sled down from the 2nd floor.. .
Sleds.. .

Sleds.. .
My friend and my boss.. at the hotel.
The dealer had some wide ski plastic in stock so I bought a pair, I had those on my last RX-1 and they made it much better in powder snow.
Then we headed home
I`m tired.. tried to get some sleep in the car..
Funny mountain..
Putting gas in her.. .
Parked at home.. .
The previous owner had adjusted the handle bar in a wierd position, like a lowrider.. (if that`s a suitable word), so I adjusted the handlebar back to a suitable position. Also removed the funny looking tape on the tunnel.
Took her for a little spin and gees my smile got even bigger.. I`m so happy with the power and I barely haven`t touched the throttle yet.. .
Gotta get something to eat now, then we will go riding.
Will report back to you asap.. !
WOW that looks awsome!

I too have heard of that happening, but very rarely. I wouldnt hesitate for a second in buying a Yamaha 4-stroke.jr_amsoil said:i thought the same thing until i seen one blow with 1600 miles on it. but i would still take my chances on buying one after seeing it done. I look at the decades of experience that Yamaha has in making high-performance 4-strokes. They know what they are doing.

kimoaj wow man i was suprise when i saw this thread. congrats on the new sled. I have thought about gettin a 4 stroke next year but for now I own my viper and I dont have the heart to get rid of it. so I might just have to have two sleds. Hope you still post some awsome pics as usual.
Hi guys!
Thanks for all the replies, really appreciate them.
Got some news for you, don`t know if they are good or bad, but here goes:
I put the warrior out for sale today!.
I know this sounds freaking wierd since I`ve only had it for 3 days but I think it handles awful.
On the first ride I had one of my most scary sled incidents ever.
I was sidehilling slow and then I lost my "direction", didn`t manage to keep it on track.
Had to ride down a freakin steep hill in order to make another attempt. Just as I entered the most steep part of the hill the engine died. It was totally dark outside so when the headlight suddenly disappeared I couldn`t see anything. I was sliding down the hill with no braking power, desperately tried to get it started but it just wouldnt start.
After sliding probably around 100m or so, the sled finally stopped. I turned the key and she fired up. My heart was beating like crazy and I was really shocked.
This could be caused by a missing float update in the carbs, the older models tended to suffer from fuel starvation when the sled was placed in steep angles.
Basically I don`t care about that incident since I was ok. But I`m real unhappy with the handling of the sled. I don`t feel that I`m the boss, the sled is the boss and I have to hang on as good as I can.
It`s so tippy that I don`t have any confidence when I ride. I tried loosening the front suspension, removed the swaybar and put on wider skis, well it got better but the overall feel of the sled isn`t good. Not for me atleast.
Now I feel like a jerk for not realizing that I bought a lake runner, not a sled that was easy to ride in the mountains.
Sure it looks awesome, the finish is awesome and the sounds is even more awesome, but I don`t care as long as I`m not having fun while riding.
So I put her out for sale today.
I might loose some money but I`ll risk it. Rather be happy with a smoker then fooling my self to love the fourstroke just because it`s a fourstroke.
That said, I know there have been made fourstrokes that are more suited for my purpose, but I think I will stick with the smokers.
Will buy a MM700 as soon as I get the warrior sold.
So looks like I will be joining you again.. just like the old times haha hehe.
Oh, if you think I`m doing something stupid, don`t hesitate to tell me.. .
Thanks.
Joakim.

Your not doing anything stupid it dosen'y pay to keep it if you don't like the sled.I had a brand new sled one for 2 1/2 months and couldn't stand it I tried everthing and traded it in for a 2000.00 american dollar loss.
thanks pro116 it makes me feel better. Sorry to hear about you loss tho. If I`m lucky I wount loose any more then 600$ or so.
But I can see that there are quite a few RX Warriors for sale right now.. so I might have to turn the price down to get rid of it.. .
No has called yet.. .
I`ll keep you posted.. .

just get a sled for the riding you do.If you want to know about any models just ask.
Hi guys !
Thanks for the replies.
I`m sure an apex is better to ride but it wouldnt be fun to ride because I would think of the huge loan I`d have in the bank in I had one.. .
Today I got the first response on the add. A guy from Stokmarknes called, 3 hours drive from me.
He had a 2001 Mountain Max 700 , 8000kilometers on the clocks. It had a bar riser and bar hooks, reed spacer, he also had a twin-seat (dunno the word, a double seat for both rider and passenger), he also had the single seat.
Only bad thing was that the track hadn`t been replaced since new, I guess 8000kilometer is quite much?. If the track looks good and seems ok, I guess it`s not a problem.. but... hmm 8000km. He said it was only missing one lug.. .
He hadn`t made up his mind yet wether to swtich sled or not.. so.. I think I will call him and tell him that I will accept the deal.. .
I think I should be able to get 6000$ + the sled.
Any opinions?.
