Will a stock Viper beat a Stock Nytro?

Yup. He will beat you off the line, but you will catch him. My Vipe is stock and my son's Nytro is basically stock. I'm studded and he is not, but I can hold back and still pass once he hooks up.

It is all in the setup, and no 2 sleds are the same.

Gearing and hookup make a lot of difference.

The Nytro will max out at 90 MPH, the newness of the track and weight transfer will determine the takeoff capability. Beyond that, it's gearing. The Vipe should go much higher on top end, but I have no experience with launch. We never got one to drag with us.

It's a hard question to answer. So many variables to consider.

stock to stock a viper will SMOKE a nytro on top end. But up to 90, it will all come down to setup and traction (as per usual)

Well then. Something is wrong with my setup, as I thaught. I'm running the 53/43 green spring setup with an Expert X and a 1.25" Ice Ripper. Nytro is stock with the exception of 144 studs. Beats me big time out of the hole and I'm unable to run him down. We ran side by side the whole length of a 10 mile lake and he seemed to pull away whenever he wanted. WTF!

Not exactly the same thing but I ran my first radar run with my 04 Viper S this last weekend. With the 53/43 and green spring - otherwise stock.

1/4 mile, I hit 87 mph twice (no studs) - but it said 108 both times on the speedo. Was actually pretty fun to do. I thought that was pretty good for hauling 260 #s of me down the strip.

My buddy's sled has 192 studs and he weighs in about 40#s less than me ran 89 mph. (Also 04 Viper S)

xsvip, did you change out your rivits or just add the spring and helix? 70% wrap?

I was only able to top out at around 90-93 mph on the speedo in loose/packed conditions. I'm getting depressed. I know this thing can run better.

I just finished clutching my 03 Viper and I'd be pretty upset if a stock Nitro beat me top end. With the setup below, I GPS'd it at 107mph, speedo read 120. I'd say you have more potential then that, but your Expert X may kill a little of your top end.

Clutch Setup:
Primary: red spring, heel 4.3, middle empty, tip 3.4, using stock 14.5 rollers
Secondary: 48/34 helix, green spring at 60* twist.

I'm running a stock 02 viper er and I'm eating my buddy on his 05 RS Vector . I am studded and so is he . Off the line almost dead even and then I pull away very hard . I feel stock is still the best all around set up . Good luck ........

Are you sure that your secondary spring isn't too tight and you aren't reaching top "gear"? Just a thought. There are others on this forum with WAAYYY more experience than me.

I'm no clutching expert either yet, but before anyone can give you any advice we need to know more specifically what you are currently running and how the setup performs.

What weights are you running, what rivits do you have in them, and which spring you got in there?!?! What does it engage at, what does it climb to and does it stay there all the way through a long pull?

You could try dropping the secondary twist to 50 or 60 like MUSTANG mentioned, but your better to post the info mention above and get some more specific advice.

PS - I'll be racing a RS Vector tomorrow, so I'll let you know Monday how I do. Both machines are around 120HP and the Viper's got to weigh a lot less, so I figure it should be no contest.

The vectors hook up pretty good, i saw one beat an f7 for the first 200 feet... both stock

I will be interested to see how that turns out

below link to topic describes my problem
http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?p=218524

All stock rivits and weights, 54/43-green spring at 70* wrap
engages around 4k, "I think" hafta check
climbs to 8500 and stays there on top end (takes a while to get there though)
fees like alot of track spin

Still adding a helix isn't gona slow your sled down that much... mine did better then that stock with a 1 1/4 inch track
