How hot is a snowmobile exhaust? I just bought some tripple pipes (new) thinking of having them coated will 1300 degree cut it? Thanks
If your using paint to coat them with then 1300 will probably not last as long as say PJ1's 1700 degree paint,which I've used and it works great.If you can get the PJ1 I'd recomend it but if not get the highest rated stuff you can find,it will still work you'll just have to reapply it more often.

No I am talking about having them coated jet hot atleast a $300 job! There are 1300 degree 1700, 2000! How hot is a sleds exhaust? the race sleds at work the pipes get about 1200-1300 id say go for the higehts u can

Well that is more $$$$$ I do not have a race sled & the color above the 1300 are not to my liking! If they do not stay @ 1300 I would guess I am OK1 Unless sleds are just hotter than Race cars etcterret725 said:the race sleds at work the pipes get about 1200-1300 id say go for the higehts u can
1300 is warning temps 2 inches from the piston skirt. So you will have more troble than boiled coating. go for it. Maxdlx

Thank you MAX! (Paul correct?) I figured some of the more knowlegable guys would get in the next day or so! I like the jet hot copperhead color but who knows! Thanks again! I have used the Jet Hot satin or sterling (whatever they called it) coating and it is fine, at the time it was thier 1200 dgree coating. As mentioned 1300 is about max that you wanna see, but that is internal exhaust temps, outside where the coating exists will exhibit slightly less temps. I had over 1200 miles on my SRX with Jet Hot coated stock pipes with no issue.

How does it hold up for items like surface rust? I just put a set of brand new pipes on my sled and they've already got that little bit of surface rust on them from the snow setting on them from sitting. Does it hold up for a couple of years, and is it worth the money?

Just go to thee web site They have marine coatings too! Not stumping for them because there are others out there! My power Inc's should be back from Jet-hot by tomorrow or tuesday, I got the sterling coat on mine and I am dying to see how it comes out. They have very fast turn around I must also tell you. From the day you ship them out, you get them back in 2 weeks including shipping there and back.

I believe it only comes in one temp for the sterling and that is 1300 which should be more than suffcient.

Ya 1200-1300 is about tops from the cylinders out to about 8 inches then it drops from there.
Preparation is key. I have run the 1300* paint on my pipes for a few years and it will completely burn off the Y pipe and the pipe out to about the point of the first bend. The rest of the pipe looks fine as long as you wait for it to completely setup before wraping the springs across it.
I might try it again sometime.
