Lets go back to stock specs on SRX clutching.

Stock specs for the SRX(2002) are 8DN-20 weights,3.6g heel and 4.5g outer.
Primary spring y-w-y.secondary spring red wrapped at 80.Stoch helix is 47.Never got a chance to try my sled in stock position.What do or did you guys end up with for rpm,s with stock specs and what speeds do you or are you getting with stock specs.I am just curious.Must have been over reving going on there.
 
My 2000 has the same spring and weight setup you describe as stock for th 2002. I weigh 160 and the sled would pull 8600-8700 RPM and once I put in the 4.5 G heel rivets, noticed immediately that the mid and upper RPM pull was much stronger and the RPM went down to about 8000-8200. The engagement went down from 4000 to about 3750 which makes it sluggish off the line. It was sluggish before too. Stock is nice, but the sled is a real sleeper compared to what it is capable of.

Can't wait to put the WWW spring in the clutch and see what happens and when my RX1 helix arrives - watch out!

Never tested top end on radar. Used to max on hardpack at 110 on speedo.

My 99 Srx 700 engages at 4600-4700 rpms, and has a clutch kit. I bought the sled like this and was wondering what part of the clutching changes the engagement?

The sled gets out of the hole quick, but I'm only pulling 8000 at WOT. It's hanging with an 02 ZR800 w/reeds and 144 pics until 60mph, then he'll pull 1-2 lengths. I imagine if I was at 8400 it would be a better race.

Not trying to hijack the thread, just curious about my clutching.

sounds like you have a really stiff primary spring - the engagement RPM is pretty high - which explains your launch.

The lack of RPM is either heavy weights or a tight secondary spring or from the stiff primary with too light weights. If your top speed suffers, just unwind your secondary spring a bit and you are good. It will raise your RPM and unlock your upper "gears".

First, I'd pop out the weights and check the rivets and look for color codes on the primary spring. Start a new thread. There are some gurus here that can help more than me.
 
Mustangzrule, you've got it backwards bud. Stiffer springs or more twist will raise RPM, softer spring or less twist will lower rpm. Same thing with more primary weigh, more helix will lower rpm and vice versa.

You are way underreving on top end. Are you sure that your powervalves are clean and adjusted properly and functioning? No pulled through cable ends through the valves? Carbs clean?
 
Carbs are definetly clean, the motor was just redone 360 miles ago. I haven't looked at the powervalves, but supposedly it was all gone through. I'll look into the powervalves.
