SRV Carbs

I have an 82 SRV540 air cooled. Right now im running just the stock single carb and exhaust. What would be my best bet for the carb be it dual or single. Next what would be the best exhaust for it.

I don't think it is possible to put dual carb on that motor in that chassis. The Pto side carb would have a conflict with the secondary. I have an '84 that has been ported, bored 1.5mm, Aaen pipe, yet still has the single kiehin. Maybe a megatron or boswell carb would be an improvement but, who can afford one.

As I always say "the only stupid question is one that isn't asked". I've learned the most from trial and error but, you have to ask a few questions along the lines. Glad to help, sorry if I shot ya' down.
 
Nah you didn't shoot anything down. Just asking is all. Also would the clutch from a Skidoo fit my 540? Dad has a brand new comet on his Formula SS and he was going to swap it out for a stock clutch if the comet will fit.

My SRV has a Yamaha/comet. It is a comet clutch made specifically for yamaha. All the regular comet parts fit it. The clutch has a gear on the back to drive the oil injection pump. The ski doo clutch would work but, the oil pump wouldn't.
 
I haven't looked for one but i don't think mine has one. It to is a comet with the triangle cover, f series i think. But you are probably right yet again. LOL.
 
i would keep the stock carb and put boyesen duel stage reeds in it gives more mid range and top end power
 
Back in the day. Richards Performance/ Bender Racing had a dual carb set-up for the SRV. It was a set of 38MM flat slides. It also came with aluminum carb manifolds that gave the clearence for them. Looking from the top down they turned to the right. The only problem with them is you had a real had time getting them tuned in. 8vo fan and ramblnman are both right. I don't think you could do any better than with the stock carb.
 
There is a company called Recreational Engineering that would bore out your carbs venture from 38mm to 42mm and they said would give it a few sled length gain in performance and pick up some MPG also , and it was confirmed by C&H dyno . yup, I heard that getting the stock carb bored out would have better fuel milege over the none bored carb.....also a single mikuni 38-40mm does well on them.......I used to have the RPC intakes, was very hard to get dialed in......no I just bought a set of AAEN twin pipes for the SRV, right now I have the stock carb on it....will be installing a 40mm Lectron HV carb to feed the motor. here is a little video and some pictures.....the pipes have no packing in them right now and I need to cut a second hole for the other pipe to exit belly pan, just wanted to throw them on to hear them....wont be ridding it this season anyhow.

It looks very nice. How bad was it fitting them in? Will it over heat with them right net to the fan?

easy as pie to fit......I will be wraping them as these were discontinued befoe SRV's started getting the long vent on hood....so will wrap them tho keep the pipes hot! no it will not overheat.....if your looking for tonnes of SRV info head on over to my SRV message board.

these pipe are not made anymore (AAEN part # Y-11040) and are hard to find.....Single pipes also work well on the srv.....bender,RPC,AAEN,PSI and DG all made pipes for the srv, these can be found on ebay......AAEN still sells new pipes for the SRV.
