I would skip the date and ask for the 5% discount instead...

My dad tore the engine down tonight and found the clutch-side piston was missing its skirt. Most of it ended up going out the exhuast. Another 10 miles on my last ride probably would have grenaded the piston and caused more damage. I'll get a pic up soon.
