I Would Like An Aggressive Trail Clutch Setup For My Single Pipe 2000 Sxr 700. Engagment Preferably No More Than 4500rpm.

--trail Ported
--one Layer Off Of Head Gasket
--carbon Tech Reeds And Spacers
--stock Track With 176 Studs

I Can By A Complete Set Of Heavy Hitters For $100.00. Would That Benefit Me At All? Also Can You Give Me A Setup If I Install Triple Pipes. If Any One Has A Set Of Triple Pipes In Good Condition I Would Be Very Interested. Thanks!
 
Change inner rivet to a 4.5 gram & get a used rx-1 helix. Run it at 60 degree wrap. Clutching should be dead nutz on! Can,t possibly give you a set up for triple pipes because evry pipe out there requires different clutching & jetting. Benders & PI end dumps are kinda close but the rest are wayyyy different.
 
I ran a set of those. 8900- 9100 rpm.Benders & pi,s have more down low but the cpr/hauck pipes really have wicked top end.
 
Turk, just some added info to Stephen's setup. He's currently running 8DN-00's with about 8 grams added. He's got a Maxx Perf orange spring in the primary and a green secondary wrapped to 60 with a 41/37 helix. His problem is he's spinning to about 9-9200 at WOT. We tested him with 8DN-20's with about 51 total grams with a Y-W-Y and 60 wrap with a red secondary spring. Got 8300-8500 and sled pulled better. I was surprised that motor would pull that weight. Do you think he ought to run some 8DN-20's with 4.5 in the heel and nothing in the tip?
 
Add more inner weight & go back to green at 60. Red ; especially at 60 kills any backshift. You never said where you had the mass or how much placed in the 8dn-20,s. those are a great trail weight.
 
Turk, Do You Think Your Original Suggested Setup Will Work Given The Information Provided By Triplefastaction. Is It Enough Weight To Keep The Rpm's Between 83 And 8500. It Sounds Simple, Like Your Going Back To Basics And Just Modifying The Stock Setup, Which Is Cool With Me. Also What Angle Is That Rx1 Helix?
 
RX-1 is 51/43. the 8df weight has the same profile as the 8dn-20 srx weight. The slightly tweaked stock set up works great; done a bunch like this & rpm,s are dead nutz on.
 
the weights that should have been in there are not 8dn-00, they were 8dn-10's and the helix should have been a 51/43, if its a 41/37, its no wonder as to why it would be over revving 9000-9200rpm up top, way too shallow of a finish angle!
 
Don, he was running a 52/42 in it initially when he was over-reving to 9200. I let him try my primary set up and the other helix just to see if we could get the RPM's down. This was the only way we could get them in the 83-8500 range. His initial set up flat out did not work.
 
oh it works, the sled was ported and was never reclutched after. Add more weight to the 8dn-10 weights. 8dn-10 weights are heavier then his stock weights to begin with, sounds like you just need to add heavier rivets to get it working. By using a softer shift spring youll run a little lighter weight then with a stiff primary spring, the maxx is 110kg shift, the spring you were running is 128kg, the clutch spring being lighter makes the weights act heavier and the softer shift force upshifts quicker! if he wants a lower engagement speed use a yamaha blue/white/blue, still the 110kg shift.
 
I agree that using a set of 8DN-10's will work better than the 00's he's using now. I was just trying to give his post some more info on what we did. We were limited to only the clutching that we had in our trailer in Michigan when we were messing with his set up. Stephen stated that you gave him this set up after you ported his motor. Just wanted to help him out best we could with what we had available to us since he was way over-reving.
 
Steve called me and he was using 8dn-10 weights, all he needs is to add weight to the arms, and get his 52/42 back in there, the 41/37 you traded him isnt going to work with his set up. he has had that clutch kit in there since 2000-2001 and the porting was done years afterwards, it was never clutched again, so its a good thing it over revs that means the porting is making power!
