At first i thought it was BS , but now i have heard it from more than a couple of people. Is Ethonal blended fuel bad for these motor's? is there any truth in this? Looking forward to everybody's thought's!

Don't have any clue on it being bad for the motor, however I have heard that it can lean you fuel/air mixture out a little so some people that are running fairly lean jetting will jet up for a safety margin. With stock jetting or the DCS like you are upgrading to you should have no problems.
I have ran fuel with 10% ethanol and the plugs looked perfect on a cold day at -20C.
I can't see how it would be bad for the motor, but I beleive nosboy would know the answer. That guy knows everything about oil/fuel I swear it.

Maximum of 5% can be used but richer jetting may be needed,
i never run the stuff.

Daman do you have any idea why? The pump I regularly fill up at says "may contain up to 10% ethanol". I have no idea when it comes to fuels / oils so I am wondering.

In Ontario the content per liter just went up at new years this year..... i think its up around 10 or 15%. I have heard that the ethanol can dry out rubber seals as it does not have the same lubricity as gasoline does

Ethanol is unavoidable in SE Wisconsin and at many gas stations up north as well. People make a big deal out of it buts its nothing and it wont hurt your engine. Yes alcohol is hard on oil but a good synthetic oil in these sleds and you wont get any abnormal wear. That is the beauty of a two stroke, they always have fresh oil in them.

Very true Yamaholic..... did not think of that lol... was thinking of 4 strokes. Will the ethanol not be hard on the fuel pump and fuel lines?? I have heard that it will dry everything right out since the alcohol in it??

Guys, Your thinking on ethanol is all wrong. It can be very bad for two strokes. It is a form of alcohol. In order to burn alcohol efficiently you need more fuel, more compression and more ignition. With it being added at a higher percentage into our fuel it will absorb a greater amount of moisture from the air - a normal trait of alcohol-moisture doesnt burn in a two stroke which can create piston failure due to preignition and detonation. Jetting up does help but there is no sure way to combat the effects of alcohol in our fuels today. The only other way to help prevent piston damage is to run a good octane booster from klotz or equivelent. Talk to someone like olav aaen and he will fill you in on it as much as he can.

I have a 96 Bravad with 205000 miles on it, and 80% have been with ethonal. never had any trobles. te fuel pump went out at 186000 miles, but I'd say thats not to bad. All that BS you hear about it drying seals and stuff is just big oil spotting off. Maxdlx

I work for the Co-op Refinery and Upgrader here in Regina, sk, and I can tell you that as of right now only 87 and 89 octane fuels have ethanol in them, atleast in Canada. The premium fuel, which is suggested in our sleds, has no ethanol it in at all. Besides that, premium is made up of better base gasolines and additives, so it is less prone to varnish up the carbs and has a better shelf life than regular. Just my 2 cents.

do a google on it, I cant believe how people freek out about something they dont understand, I believe in minn. its mandatory in all gas (someone correct me if im wrong), I dont believe its much different than pouring a can of heet or iso in the tank, to help with cold starts and water. I dont like running premium anymore because with the cost of gas these days whose going to run it, there for how long has it sat in the tank before I put it in my sled, no thanks, ill take the ethanol, atleast its fresh
