I'm thinking about upgrading to an SRX skid w/adjustable rods under my '95 Vmax 600. Question is, is it worth the time and effort? There is an extra set of holes in my tunnel that appear to be close to the SRX mounting bolt holes. or should I go with a newer skid or an M10. It almost appears to be a direct bolt in. On a budget also, so M10 is kinda out of the picture at this time.

srx skid will ride a little better but it wont be a night and day difference. Getting the shocks revalved for your weight and riding style will make a decent difference though.

I think it will be a big improvment over the '95 stocker...

go through that srx skid check bush's for wear clean grease
etc. and she'll ride nice..

don't bother with the SRX skid, while it will be an improvement, if you're going to do the work, you're better off going with a proation plus rear skid that will give you 11.5 inches of rear travel. just my opinion. I put an '03 RX1 skid under my '95, it made a world of difference, while I still can't keep up with the newer rider forward sleds on the bumps, at least the bumps are tolerable and I'm not sore after a days ride. Also, if you're worried about loosing top end or handling due to the long travel skid, don't worry, I haven't noticed any decrease in handling or top end on mine.

Thanks guys... that was kinda my thinkin'

Exciter570.. you got the specs for the swap? I'm thinking about going that route. btw, I posted the jetting stuff on the other thread..

What do you guys think about the ExpertX from AD Boivin? I got my eye on one. It seems the way they mount the swing arm would put alot of stress on the tunnel.

I put a Proaction Plus rear skid under my 95 VMAX 600 (esentially turned it into an VMAX-XT) and the ride was much improved w/11 inches. The back end is higher, and the handling suffered a little, but the back-breaking bumps were now much more tolerable.

I have heard that skids from some newer Cats can be used under Yammi's and ride as well as M10's - See the 4-stroke board for some posts on this
