I have a 99 with headgasket mod carbon tech reeds and reed spacers. What should I run for mains and needle setting. It has stock now and the center and mag are lean in 30-40 degree temps pto has wash that I like to see.

Anyone!
do you mean rich in 30-40 degrees??? If it's lean in 30-40 degrees you will melt down at 5 degrees! the PTO side is the lean side, the mag and center should be richer than PTO.

What BBlueSRX said........
You need to wait till it's cold then go bigger on the mains & needles,no one can just tell ya what you need and you'll be perfect, you need to jet it for your altitude and temp if it's that far off.
re jetting is not needed with a headgasket mod, just need to run premium gas.

bblue it is lean on the center and mag no wash the pto has small amount of was as it has one size larger jet according to stock specs. dman this is not my first rodeo, I just wanted to now if anyone has done these mods and had to jet differently and how much. If others have done these mods and not rejetted then they are lucky not to burn down as I said two pistons have zero wash on a 30-40 degree day. My other "half "has a vmax 600 and is stock with the same jet specs and it was plenty rich on all three that same day. I just don't want to have to keep pulling the carbs off a half a dozen times if someone could get me close.

I hear ya...
I relize that getting you close, but you know you need to do it on a colder day and for your spacific app..
but you already know that so good luck with 'er...

there is no reason it should be lean with the head gasket mod if the jets are stock. you should be able to jet 1 size down and still be safe. could be the reeds call for jetting changes? I have peeled the head gasket on 5 of these triple motors and have jetted 2 of the 700's down a size in the mains and were still safe. it has to have something to do with the carbon tech reeds that are giving you a lean reading

Thanks for the info bblue. It could be the reeds. It doees have the pipe coated but I would'nt think that should effect it.

Carbon Tech reeds don't require rejetting. At least mine didn't (2001 SXR600). There was nothing in the instructions at all on jetting.
I'm running Bender Triple Pipes, so my jetting won't help you.
Maybe you have an air leak on the intake on those cylinders???

There might be a air leak but the pto is not rich enough for cold temps either.

Before I put on my triple pipes on my 2001 SXR600, I was jetted:
135 (PTO), 132.5, 132.5 (Mag). This is leaner than stock and I had NO issues at all except a slight lean bog of the line. Pilots were 42.5 with 2 turns on the fuel screw. This was even at Manitoba cold temps.
If I went back to the stock exhaust, I might try 45 pilots to seee if I can get rid of the bog.
Hope this helps.
