Drag racing 98MM700 on packed snow

I have some bad hesitation right off the line with this thing, and I was wondering if anybody had some ideas on making this thing holeshoot the summits. There is no chance for them in a rolling start (10-15 kmh), but right of the line I fall out. Engaging about 4000 rpm. about sea level 47.5 pilots, 1 3/4 turns out on fuel-screws, stock needle position, stock main jets, tempaflow, boost bottle, 1 layer head gasket, reed spacers, Dyno port can. 136x1 3/4 track, adjustable transfer rods, extrovert drivers. I think I should bring up the engagement but I thought I would ask the good folks @ T.Y. before I spend some more money on clutch parts. thanx Travis

Your pilots are too big for a stock machine. Toss that can as far away as you can throw it. If it still has a slight bog play with fuel screws. Make sure belt is riding above the shives in the secondary. You wanna see 8100 rpm holeshot climbing to 8500 rpm.

Thanx for the quick reply. It was Hartman's suggestion to go with 50 pilots but I only had 2 of them so I went with the 47.5s. With the stock 45 pilots I had a nasty bog and going one size up seemed to eliminate that. No more bog but it hesitates now. I will replace that can with the stock one and see where I am, then try going back down with the pilots. How many turns out would a guy go before going up in size? (I wouldn't want them to fall out on me). Your help is very appreciated. Travis

Take the can off 1st & try it. That may eliminate your problem. Leduc is higher elevation so stick with those 47.5 pilots.

I failed to mention that there is a 53/43 helix in there too. I guess i should have said that before. Maybe that is too steep and I should try the stock 43. I really just thought of it last night. Well back to the sled. Thanks again for your advice. Travis

. I would turn out fuel screws another 1/4 turn & maybe add some engagement shims to get engagement up to about 4500 rpm
