whats the best belt ?

The one you are clutched for. Sounds obvious, but run the belt that your clutches are setup for. Like Daman I prefer the 8DN (OEM) belt due to it's durability. If you are using another belt then the rubber is softer on most and the clutching needs to be changed to match. The 8DN is a harder compound and requires a little more side pressure to avoid slippage, but it is a very durable belt.
 
I, like Ding, use the 8DN because of its amazing durability. I had one on my srx for 4,000 miles and only changed it because i was changing clutch components, it was still within wear limits, so now its a good spare.
 
I changed out the origanal belt on my '98 XTC the
begining of last year only because i felt guilty and it was getting old
and didn't want to chance it flying apart on me,i still have it on the clutch
cover as a spare,still within specs...
 
8dn for durability ultimax 3 if you want a softer compound. I use the max on my srx 7 for drag racing and use the 8dn on my 1000 as the max does not hold up well to the horse power. And as said above you will have to clutch differently between the two.
 
I had the Ultamax 2 on my viper and switch back to the stock 8DN and it works great for trail ridng.
Vote for 8DN.
