Hi Guy's
I'm New To Yamaha Sleds And Need Some Advice.
I Bought A 1998 Vmax500xtc In Mint Condition. I Need Some Help!
First: Is It Normal To Use Half A Gallon Of Oil To 1.5 Tanks Of Gas?
The Sled Runs Great No Plug Fouling And Starts Good. This Is More Oil Than Both Of My Other Sleds Used Combined In One Run. Can I Turn The Oil Pump Down?
Is There A Good Link On How To Adjust The Rear Suspension? My Wife Is 110# Soaking Wet And The Sled Rides Alittle Rough For Her.
Looking For Good Links For Suspension Upgrades..
Any Suggestions On A New Pair Of Ski's?
Next It Needs Studs. What Lenght? And Do I Need Tunnel Protectors?
Any Other Things You Guys Can Think Of Please Let Me Know....
Thanks Dan

To help ya with the oil issue do some checks,
On the '98's you need to aline the marks down at the pump at WOT
click
you adjust that here
but first you need to,
1-set idle to 16-1700 rpm's
2-set throttle end play(click)to 2mm,do that down at the carb rack you'll see it.
3-then set oil pump
do it in that order!!!!!

Also,
1 gal = 128 oz. 1 qt = 32 oz.
10 gal = 1280 oz
If you want 50:1, then 1280/50 = 26. You should burn 26 oz of oil per 1280 oz (10 gal) of gas.
26/32 = .8 -- 26 oz = 80% of a quart.
If you burn exactly 1 quart of oil per tank of gas, you're running 40:1 fuelil ratio. (1280/32 = 40) 40:1 is "richer" than 50:1.
1 qt = .95 liter.

your present mixture:
1.5 tanks of fuel = approx 67 litres of fuel
1/2 gallon of oil = approx 2 litres of oil
67/2 = 33.5/1 mixtre.... maybe only a tiny bit rich... believe a good target is 40/1
run both my sleds average mixture between 35 and 40 to 1..
