02 SRX Stock HP???


yes, the 2000 has the lighter, more powerful 18 pole magneto. Then the 2001 got the lighter brake rotor.
 
I LOVE THIS POST BECAUSE IT SHOWS JUST WHAT A AWSOME SNOWMOBILE THIS WAS. LOOK AT THE WAY IT BEING A 696 cc AND 140 ish HP BEING ABLE TOO RUN WITH EVERYBODY ELSES 800 cc AND 150 ish HP. I HAVE A 2000 AND A 2002. I WILL BUY A 2001 SOMEDAY AND A 98 600 SRX. NEXT TOO THE VMAX 800, MY FAVORITE SLED. ! 3:16 (yammie tony)
 
straight line performance matched to almost any stock sled, even for being almost 10 yrs old in the making

Glad being part of the SRX's history.Love the 2002 so far,but will make it stronger yet,give me time.And when I owned the 1981 SRX,I loved that sled to.All I can remember about the 81 SRX is that I actually had the speedo up to 115 mph and was happy with that.Stock,and we didn't do any wrenching in them days.That was a 440 only.My bud had a 78 SRX and nobody,and I mean nobody could touch him.In a race he would be spinning while the guy he raced took off on him,but when it hooked up..lookout..he got up to you and left you behind.I was amazed by that sled.The good old days and affordable fun!!!

I'll never forget the issue of Supertrax magazine a year after the SRX was gone. They had one in their magazine test fleet as they did a 1000cc T-Cat, both stock. They said on the lakes the SRX would run neck and neck with the big T-Cat and sometimes get a ski in font of it. Now that's pretty impressive.
 
YA HAD TOO ADMIRE THE WAY YAMAHA HYPED THE SRX. WELL ALL OF THEM FOR THAT MATTER GOING BACK EVEN TOO THE OLD ONES. YAMAHA HAD THE BEST AD,s. I CAN REMEBER A AMERICAN SNOWMOBILE MAGAZINE WITH THE NEW 98 SRX ON COVER. YAMAHA CLAIMED IT HAD 4-6 SLEDS ON THE VMAX 4 800. THAN IN 2003, YAMAHA CLAIMED THE RX-1 HAD 4 TO 6 SLEDS ON THE SRX. THAN IN 06 YAMAHA CLAIMED THE APPEX GT HAD 4-6 SLEDS ON THE RX-1. THATS HYPE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
 
hehe yes add those sled lengths and the apex is real fast:)
actually tested my friends well clutched and geared srx 02 against my apex today, i was testing out a dalton kit for a tuning company and needed a fast sled to run against..
well it was close to 60 mph then the apex would pull 3 lengths an slowly creep some more the longer we raced..
we ran in a 320 meters lake on hard snow,
srx 144 kmh on gps
apex 154 kmh on gps
the srx is geared 22-40 for short distance drags, my apex 22-38..
this was against the stock apex clutching..
 
I RACED TWO APPEX GT ON SNOW THIS YEAR. ONE HAD TWO ON ME ALL THE WAY. NO MATTER WHAT I DID. IT WAS TWO. SECOND ONE I KILLED. ALL WITH MY 02 SRX. I GUESS THOSE APPEX GT ARE RUNNING. THEIR FAST SLEDS. HOPE TOO SEE A FEW ON GRASS THIS FALL. 3:16 (yammie tony)
