Well we rode 3 sles this year in the group.
00 sxr 700 mine
98 xtc 700 son
97 xtc 600 cousin

Well it is all bad news again this year for our sleds.
97 lost compression 30 in one and 0 in the other. needs rebuilt of course
98 survived the season but needs plastic skis ( metal ones suck) and needs studs or new track with studs.
00 track ripped on right but still needed to ride one last day and track hooked on hyfax and that was it ( track stuck and will not move #$%&* )

Had to tow 2 sleds home this year #$%&*

Anyhow I got a expert x and going to install once my plates get here :WayCool: So I will be on the look out this year for some new stuff again for the sleds. Same old s*** different year..lol

With that all venting now I do not feel any better but I am happy about my expert x.

This is my story for ya's this year
later joe

I am not sure on that. Sled has 7000 mile on it. I am sure this was done already. See what happened is we were on a trip in ny and It was running pretty rich fouling plugs. Worked on his for about a day checking stuff out and finally checked the compression. Each side was low around 90. So I did the head gasket mod and got it up to 105 to finish the trip. (last day of riding). Well we got some snow down here in pa ad ran one last day. His bottom end was getting worse and kept fouling plugs he said ( I was at home and going to meet up with them) Well he called me and said it was toast..
He is used to 2 stroke dirt bikes. Sure enough no/ low compression. Time to tow sled home. Man I hate towing sleds aspecially when the track does not spin. #$%&*

Boy i would have shut 'er down at the 90psi, right there you had problems
starting...

if the sled had 7000 on it and original it was way over do for pistons and
rings, or at aleast rings if the pistons were checked ok..

No I understand but you can't tell people what to do. You can just help them out and try to help spend there paycheck very quickly... sledding is not cheap  Anyhow he told me he wants to track it,fix engine, and betters skis for the next year to come...we will see.
