why is it we need to put skids from other manufactures on yami's for a good ride it cannot be that hard for them to come up with an class "A" skid can it? they have been hearing complaints about it for so long you would think they would have done something about it long time ago....are these skids designed over seas????If so then they need new engineers from here'''U.S.A'''
Buy a new sled
There is nothing wrong with the new skids, they ride great. True, the "no action" skids sucked but they have already addressed it and the new ones are "class A".

madmatt hit the nail on the head. The monoshock and the proactive are awesome skids it's just the proaction are out dated along time ago and can't take the abuse like other sleds.

My self i don't have one Damn problem with the Pro-Action, i think they
ride just fine, yea you may not be able jump 50 feet in the air without
breaking something but is that what they really were designed for?? no,
i can ride a 100+ day and i feel great at night maybe i'm tougher than most
dunno ,so i guess it's all in the eye of the beholder...

I think its great that you are happy with the Pro-Action.Anytime you want to ride 100+ with me, let me know. We'll see what you think of it then.daman said:My self i don't have one Damn problem with the Pro-Action, i think they

Im not trying to start a big arguement, but dont you think its odd that there are very few others that agree with you? Have you had much seat time on other skids to compare it to?

I agree. The proaction needs help in the stutter bumbs, for sure, but the truth is I beat the living hell out of mine and not one issue. I jump, alot. No I'm not getting 15 foot of air (I would if I could find the jump), but I have jumped 50-60 feet many times on hard pack and powder, just keeps ticking. Maybe being only 175 lbs. has something to do with it.
Keep in mind I think many rider are spoiled and forget their snowmobiling. May sound weird, but I don't want a cadilac ride. Some of the bumps and squirleyness, so to speak, keeps me alert and on my toes. I noticed riding my buds Doo MXZ 700, I almost felt bored, you don't feel anyting, which made me feel to relaxed.......and then when I actually hit a bump that I could feel, I wasn't ready for it...weird I know, but that's how I roll.
Basically, I prefer to feel the trail.

I'll give it a whirl too. Just so you know, I've ridden many a day at 250+ miles. Just curious, is your 100 mile day harder then, say my 100 mile day? I avg around 60-70 MPH.
lol, too funny!daman said:Any time pal i'll be right behi.....i mean i font of you!!!!!
I agree with allvipedup, my biggest issues are not with reliability(other than the w arm) it is the studder bump and nasty G-bump abilitiy of the skid.
In 1' studders, their is no reaction in the skid at all, its like ridding a board. In the deeper woops, it will pitch from one side of the trail to the other, like a pogo stick.
Ive been ridding pro action yammies since 95(96 XT,98 srx,04 viper S), but have also had two Cats(my race sleds) 97 ZR440 and 00 440sno-pro.I can say without a doubt when it comes to chopped up , whooped out trails, the pro action doesnt even compare.I
I liked my pro-action for jumping, and rolling one-timers, it was predictable.
Guys, there is still snow in the UP! Monday? Tuesday?

YA, but he's REALLY old!! If I could just get him to standup, he could REALLY fly LOL!! I think that there are a lot of people that just won't accept the limitations of the Proaction. With almost 9,000 on my 600 and near 12,000 on my Viper, I KNOW the limitations. Got a garageful of shocks and W-arms and shock mounts and rails and... ya get the picture. Wouldn't go back to my old sleds for anything. The Attak is a better trail sled and only marginally worse offtrail than my Viper. All while getting 13-16 mpg and burning 87 octane and NO oil. Do miss the sound of the Viper, but that is about it!! Later

I really don't know what you guys are doing to break your W arms and other things. I know I ride hard, not kidding myself, maybe I'm just lucky that all I've had to do was rebuild my shocks. I have to agree, I make up for the short comings of the pro act by standing...alot, but that is comfortable fo me. Granted, I am looking at other skids to put in it...maybe an expert x. It always that money thing though.

Trust me if you ride hard you are going to wreck the skids.I have rode with sno xr and viper dave. They know I ride heard I have broken so many proaction parts it's not funny so has my brother who rides like me.We pund moguls hard and jump. The 2-3 ft moguls is whats hard on the skids. Some guys say there is no problem with the proaction but have you tried other skids?I'm like viper dave I' must have 4 spare proaction's laying around with parts off them.I won't ever run a proaction skid in any sled ever again.

Right on! Pretty much how I ride too although, it's rare I run into 3-4 ft moguls. I guess I've been lucky so far. I know most likely it's a matter of time...over 5000miles...knock on wood.

Check out my avatar. That is my old 600 XTC. About an 80' jump with around 10' of height. W-arm, bottom front shock mount AND a bent rail LOL!! Rode about 20 mi. back to our cabin. Didn't even notice how bad it was until we loadeed it on the trailer LOL. I was a little lighter then, only about 240 lbs. Wrecked the Viper skid BAD last yr. and I was about 280 lbs then. Gonna have to cut down on the SNACKS!!

Allvipedup - It's obvious you're not running into the 3-4' moguls if you're averageing 60-70mph!
Hitting one 3-4 foot at 60 mph is great with the proaction, hitting sections of 100+ 3-4 footers is what breaks the proaction, and I'll guarantee it'll kill that avg mph.
My last ride of the season this past Sun I snapped the bolt that holds the right side transfer rod to the skid rail. Luckily my Dad's sled contained the following to make on the trail repairs.
Fuel Stabilizer to clean the grease off the rod ---$3
A used up paper towel with dried snot (for same as above) ---$.01
Roll of duct tape ---$3.50
Back up starter rope ---$5
Home Depot Husky All in One TOOL ---$15
Being able to run 70 miles back to the trailer as hard as we rode from the trailer.......
PRICELESS
I used the All in one tool to remove the bolt that holds on the bottom section of the transfer rod, cleaned what remained with fuel stabilizer so the tape would sick, theh wrapped duct tape around the rod and through the nearest setion of the skid a few times, also tied it with rope, and some more tape to finish it off. I had to keep the arm from dangling and tearing the hell out of the driver lugs on the inside of the track.
Not sure if the bolt was loose to begin with OR the constant pounding of Moguls killed it.

I finally got my proaction skid to ride good but now i cant get it to hold together. Just like pro116 i have broke almost every pc in that skid! I spent more repairing that skid this winter than it would of cost to buy a new one...lol. I definately will have a different skid in it by next season.

the proaction keeps u flat in the corners and can handle the deep moguls if u have it tuned right. i ahvent had a problem with mine, but i do have a set or race ohlins in the back and adjustable transfer rods. but even in my old xtc it could hammer trhew with no problem. my buddies f6 cant handle bumps worth s***. when im riding off his tail light at night i brace my self for huge moguls and barely feel the bump when i get to it. it has is shortcomings like cracking W arms but a good welder can fix that no problem. the major disadvantage or the yamie suspension isnt the rear its the front. i bottom my front end out 6 times more then the rear.
