OK, so now I got 4,6 in heel (washers are ground), 3,3 mid and 3,3 in tip.
22/38 gearing. Sled overrevs to 8750, still I got 180 km/h on it today.
Do I add 1 gram to the tip or remove the mid one and put 6 grams in tip?
thanks. 50/36 helix with a green spring at 70 degrees.

Does it overrev all the way thru or do rpm,s gradually increase? I would dd 1 gram to heel; remove mid weight & add 2 grams to tip.

Easily goes to 8500 and pretty soon reaches 8750. Hard to put any more weight in heel as I dont have any more washers, maybe 3 times 0.5 grams. Will try 2 grams on the tip first.

Put on 1 gram to the heel (used a 1 gram washer), removed the middle bolt and put 5 grams in tip. Still waay too much rpm, like first 8500 then it goes up to 8700-8800.. Do I still add more weight to the tip or what?

with a 50/36 youll need 6-7 grams in tip, middle empty, 4-5 grams in the heel.

Let me know how your set-up is working.I am debating on purchasing either a 50/36 or 50/38 Helix.I have HC's coming next week, some guys are using 50/38,but would like to see how you do on the 50/36.What is your gearing on the 02 SRX.I also have an 02 SRX,so I am watching your set-up closely to see how you'll do at the end. Please post your findings or pm me whenever. Thanks bud........................................................................Doug

Lots of snow, it's snowing out right now. I'm not motivated to begin wrenching today, too tired. There are also too many people here at our house who don't understand the concept of clutch tuning, who think something is wrong with my sled since I am wrenching it so often. Are you still plagued by the dcs bluemonster1 ?

The DCS has not been a major issue for me.I re-jetted 2 sizes up and finally put in the correct spark plugs, the BR9ECS,not the BR9es's that were in there. But will have to wait till next season to find out.Got some work to do on the sled in the near future.Got my new track,Simmon's Ski's and HC's coming in next week. Will take skid out and looking for another skid(better one of course)Will go thru everything from top to bottom on the sled and get her within specs.May change the rings just for the hell of it,and check pistons at the same time.I am not sure what kind of Helix to buy yet, seems you are happy with the 50/36,some guys with the 50/38.What is your riding elevation and weight factors on the 02.I am about 750 ft above sea level here and weigh in at an average of 165 lbs with no gear.We got no more snow here, but is cold still.Eastern Canada has gotten more snow and blizzards still coming today in some places. They show on the news a Easter Egg hunt for kids in the snow, about 2 to 3 feet of it...awesome.

Riding elevation is maybe 200 feet above sea level, 175 lbs with gear..
The condition on the river now is too soft (new snow) to get any good top speed.
As for jetting, I found my "square" in the jetting chart and jetted accordingly, exept for the pilots, where I went one size smaller. Snappy at low end..
I expect rideable snow for atleast 3 more weeks. If the 7 grams in tip isn't enough, I will maybe have to gear up one tooth or get another helix.
As for the dcs, I experienced that with hcs and a too steep end angle, the dcs light would come on, changed the helix to a 50/36, it didn't come on but it is overrevving.
Just feel free to ask...

NOTE: with the hc's. You might need to grind off some of the washers that are on hte heel bolt, otherwise they will make crap out of your rollers because they might touch them, OUCH

yes I realize that.Actually put some washers with the 4.5g rivets on my 8DN-20's in the tip and found that I had to do some grinding down.Hope the 50/36 works for ya.The bigger the number means more steeper right.I will keep tracking your post for the next little while. Why did you gear down to 22 anyways?

The sled came with that (used). Haven't bothered to re gear since I have a 1,25 track. Maybe I will have to re gear for next season. I was going to put on 7 grams in tip now, with 2 lock washers and one "regular" 1 gram washer. That didn't work out because the bolt would even so slightly touch the "spider wall" under the roller (if you know what I mean). I mean if I've had 2 regular washers and one lock wahser, then it might would have worked (I used the regular one gram washers 3 of them in the heel, so now I only have 3 left). Now, I'm in serious doubt that 1 gram will cure a 2-300 rpm overrev but I think it will bring me a little closer. Too bad, I ran out of regular 1 gram washers, and the delivery time is like 3 weeks. LOL SOOO close. So now I have 4 options:
1) Get one more regular 1 gram washer, put it on and see (when I get it)
2) re gear to 23/38 and see what happens
3) get a 50/38 helix.
4) relieve some tension in the secondary (to 60 degrees from 70) to bring rpms down sliglty.
Going testing tomorrow when I wake up (going to bed pretty soon, time is like 2,38 am)
Going to try option #4.

The higher the number of the helix the steeper. Now If I am not mistaken, a 50/38 will load the engine sliglty more than a 50/36 because the latter will hold the secondary in a higher "gear" for longer.. or something like that...

get some shut eye and tomorrow will be another day.I'll check in wth you tommorrow sometimes. There is an 7 hr difference between us I see.I'll check in when it is around 7-9 pm your time.

Good afternoon. Did some testing today. The added weight did help some, but not enough. It would run to 8700 at least, if not more. But I got 170 km/h or 105,5 on the speedo. The conditions weren't trat great. You could really feel the snow dragging you down. To get some idea of the conditions, I've attached a photo below.

Hard to tune when it is warmer and the snow conditions are not so great. So what do you have for a set-up now in the HC's?It is 8:00 am here now, still not have really woken up.

I think about 5 point something grams in heel. There's 6 grams in the tip now.
I think the gearing is too low, because the rpms will still rise too much on a long run.
Wha'ts your elevation? and what temps do you ride in?
What's your weight and gearing? Do you have the service manual for your sled?

Temps when I was testing, were around -3/-4 c..

well my elevation is 750 ft above sea level. My perfect riding temps would be -10 to -20 celcius.Mind you when it was warming up to 0 and +5 Celius, still was getting 105 mph easy.Best to tune when the temps are cooler and the snow is more crisp and packed.I weigh about the same as you with gear on.My gearing should be stock, but never checked since I bought the sled used in Jan/07.Yes you must get the SRX's to launch at around 8150 to 8200 and make that engine grunt and work to 8500.And at 8500 she should still be pulling hard. That would be the ideal set-up.I do have the service manual on the 2000-2002 SRX's.

Good that you've got the manual. What is your exact jetting? I'm curious about your dcs problems..
