Hey guys.

I want to go to straight bars on my SRX. Will apex bars work? Any other recommendations?

I plan to put on straight bars, 2 " riser, and raise the seat 2-3" to make my 02 SRX feel not so ancient. Dont have 9K this year for a new sled so this will have to do. : )

with the straight bars you loose about 2.5 inches of rise. if you only add a 2 inch it will actually be shorter. i have a 4.25 inch riser with bolts. $30plus shipping. Maxdlx

I'm doing the process right now.You have to cut the handle bars in half so you can slid youe one piece throttle on then reweld it.The 4 strokes have a 2 piece.

i did the opposite, i have the newer apex bars with grips down around the end, so i cut my block in half and duramixed it back together.

i used this style because with the old bars i didnt have enough room to use an isovibe without lengthening cables and i didnt want the bars that high either.

I bought some left over bars from my local dealer. I believe they're '06 bars, the hooks can be taken off so you can slide the throttle over it. That way you don't have to butcher your new bars. The 07's don't have the removeable bar hooks. You will have to put a large riser on it to regain height. I just put a three inch on to keep original bar height.

One other thing to know is the newer bars are narrower at the grips. So you actually gain some cable by moving your controls closer to the center of the bars. Maxdlx

I woulkd think if you have the newer dual control hand and thumb warmers, you could make new style bar equip work. Maxdlx

I actually dont like my attak bars so much, i think they are too narrow and was thinking about putting a wider set on, along with another two inches or so of rise.

so '04 viper controls can be taken apart and used on the '07 bars. i was wanting to get the '07 bars with the hot grips extending onto the bar hooks.

Could someone measure thier apex\nytro bars for width? (From one grip to another) I am looking to put these on my SRX but want to get an idea of how wide they will be compared to stock.

My son put Apex bars on his 99 Vmax. He needed to use a 4" riser to put the bars at stock height. The Apex bars are 1" wider than the stock Vmax bars, that's to the very outside tip of the hook.

It's from a 06, (not sure what model) the dealer was really good to him and gave him several risers and pads to see what would work best.

I put a set of nytro/apex bars on my Viper w/ a 5" rox riser and they work fantastic,if you are patient you can work the rt grip off the bar with a small pick or flat blade screw driver and then epoxy it back on.I also put a set of Pro-Xr bars on once but I had to surgically cut throttle block and put it back on with 3M panel bonding adhesive used to replace quarter's and roof panel on cars ....

can we get some more pics i really liek how that vmax turned out.... altho i like my contoured bars form trail riding, just not for racing and stand-up riding
