I saw an SRX with this number - 8F2 - 012001
We don't think yamaha made over 12000 of these ... is this #1 and is the 012 some sort of I.D.?
Don't ask where it is - its owned already.
Thanks

Thanks to all who replied.
He found the sled at a Canadian dealer (not sure if it was a yamaha dealer) with a 3 cylinder Kohler in it. The dealer had the matching engine still and it all worked.
I guess it avioded the "crusher" in its day.
Thnaks

HEY, ARN,T YOU THE GUY THAT HAS THE RARE 8H1 SRX !!!!!!!!! 3:16 (yammie tony)
Hey Yammie, yes I am! I remember that we talked about the 8H1 sled on the old vmax4 boards.
These sled's is basicly a 1977 model only with some minor changes. Never the less they are still a bit of a mystery and so far I've heard they were only sold in scandinavia, or even sweden only. On the other hand the 1978 8G9 SRX presumably never was sold on the swedish market. When people talk about the 1978 SRX back here in sweden they refer to this 8H1 model even if it exist some confusion of ideas regarding the american 8G9 version back here as well.
I'm allmost done putting my sled together, literally putting it together since I'm not really restoring it. I like to keep the old patina and battle scars and I plan to try out the race track with this sled. I got some pictures of the progress since the last time I posted on this subject. Just give me a few hours and I'll post them for you.

WELL SRX EXPERTS, THERE YA HAVE IT. THANKS YAMATON. !!!!! 3:16 (yammie tony)
Okey let's see now.
First off, the black on the top of the hood on my sled is not original, it is painted there after some hood repair ages ago. The hood should be all white just like the one on the 77 model.
Second, the 1978 8H1 SRX have an identical suspension to the 1977 8F2 SRX, however the suspension in my sled is a mixture between a customized 79 suspension and the 78 suspension. Swaybar and rear axle is original to the model and most of the rest is 79 SRX, rear idler wheels even newer.
The engine in these sleds was basicly the same to the 77 SRX but there is some differences. First of all it got the 8G9 crank, an 8H1 magnet and CDI unit, 8G9 flywheel and a 8G9 recoil. Engine have the same 8F200 cylinders as the 77 model and the same 42 mm mikuni carbs. Cylinder heads is marked 8H100.
I'm planning to run a complete 77 SRX engine with AAEN stingers in this sled.
The last picture is an empty chassies on the garage floor #8H1-001106. I sold this one a few moths ago. All the 8H1 identities I've seen or heard of is close in numbers.

YAMATON, THANK YOU FOR POSTING, I WAS WAY OFF DESRIBEING THESE BECAUSE I THOUGHT THEY CAME WITH BLACK HOOD. I TELL YA THIS THEIR ALOT CLOSE TOO A AMERICAN 77 SRX THAN A AMERICAN 78. THANKS AGAIN BUD. 3:16 (yammie tony)
No problem! It has been suggested that yamaha released these sleds in sweden/scandinavia in 1978 because they could only spare 6-8 SSR's for this market. I don't know but that's one theory for speculation.
thanks for the lesson! thats awesome! very nice sleds yamaton!
Thank you guys! I'm happy to post, especially on this not very well known 8H1 SRX.
Yammiegod, do you have this sled listed somewhere in your archives? I remember someone had it listed somewhere as an "canadian race version" but I don't remember who it was.
