A primer is a good idea. Many SRX's are hard to start, my 01 included. I've installed a fuel shutoff valve (makes travelling safer too). They seem to lose fuel and pressure after sitting for short times. If you kill the engine with the choke instead of the ignition, it will start 1st pull next time. But there's a concern of stripping the oil off the cylinder walls with the rich mixture. IMHO, it won't hurt it overnight a few times a year, but I wouldn't make a habit out of it.

Great point, that is a concern when things are rich.
