I am sure if you call Jeff Simon he would be happy to email you some sheets.
I think you should talk to MRVIPER700 instead of looking for JEFF SIMON !!! just a friendly suggestion.. i have dealt with Jeff and I think DON (mrviper700) is a LOT better of an individual to deal with!!! Gary Oles nosboy

Thanx for the compliments but I am not trying to steal any bussiness from Jeff. If you only want one of his engines I encourage you to call him, hes a nice guy. His number is 414-698-6611
I would reccomend ANYONE looking for a big bore or performance work to research the prior work done by the builder and dont just base it off a peice of paper saying this is what the engine makes for power. Anyone can show you a dyno sheet for any power level you want to see. Someone wanting a "good engine" needs to know how they actually perform in the field, in real life, not just on a 5-8 second dyno run. A dyno is a very usefull tool in knowing where your power is and for how long it makes good power, this eases tuning, clutching, etc.
Too many people fixate on the actual hp numbers. The numbers will vary from dyno to dyno. Some brands of dyno place the load differantly to the engine via the water brake, a good example is the land and sea vs the superflow. Both good peices of equipment but your results will vary from each as far as numbers go.
Ask around to people who have the engines already in the field and ask how they like them, what they dont like about them, and base your buying decisions off that. Good luck on your research, let me know if you have any other questions .

guys he has bought the kit and was just wondering about the hp and torque numbers of a 780, even wanting to see a dyno sheet from a stock 700 for that matter. Being a used kit he is'nt going to call simons and bother him, we were just hoping to find a readily available dyno sheet. Thanks for all input.

I have a Simons 780 kit with a little over 6000 miles now. I have followed and read this board for many years and never saw a dyno sheet for this Simons kit. I have spoken to Jeff a number of times about setup and the numbers and remember 163-165 to be the stage two with bored carbs 24cc head per Jeffs recommendation for trail use. I don't recall the torque. Be careful what you read many contributors to this board exaggerate the hp. As Don pointed out if you lean back the jetting you can acheive big hp on the dyno. With a trail setup that won't burn down you will need more fuel and see less hp. I will agree that the availability of the tuner with advice and experiance is more important than the kit itself. Good luck. A Viper with 165 on the trail is alot of fun.

he SURE DIDNT welcome the call when I was building my asphalt sled wth nitrous!!!
Maybe somethings changed with Jeff,,,but,,, I REALLY DIDN't like the way he treated people in general (let alone ME,)when he first started out.. Maybe he GREW UP a little and learned how to treat people a little differently,,,but,,,nevertheless,,, I would use MRVIPER700 BEFORE I would Jeff.... A little HONESTY goes a LONG WAY with me and I haven't experienced that with Jeff.. I've raced a LONG TIME AGO with snowmobiles and I have dealt with some of the BEST and some of the worst!!!! I dont PULL PUNCHES and I dont talk CRAP about people that doesnt deserve it!!!! Theres a FEW OTHER guys out there that I WOULDN'T PIDDLE on them EVEN IF THEY WERE ON FIRE!!!! USE DON!!!! He's a STAND UP GUY and isn't out to SCREW PEOPLE!!! Gary Oles nosboy

I KNOW JEFF SINSE HE WORKED AT REICHARDS. THIS IS GOING BACK TO 440 SRX DAYS. GREAT GUY. I ALSO HAVE SEEN HIS BIG BORES RUN ON ALL THE NY HOT SPOTS ( big moose, onieda, lanzi,s) VERY STRONG 780,s. !! 3:16 (yammie tony)
please dont get me started with REICHARDS!!!!
How about 2 of the "best in the business"???? Mark Giamattei and Freddie Klies?????
Mark "plays the "BLUES" in a band in New York and I don't know where Freddie has been hiding???? I think Freddie sticks with CROTCH ROCKETS and Mark got out of it alltogether... A lot of people don't like the way Mark did business either!!! Jeff makes some decent stuff, although I could care less for his business ethics... MRVIPER700 also makes decent stuff and I prefer dealing with him because of his KNOWLEDGE and his ETHICS.... I don't agree with some of his "ways" and I am SURE he doesn't agree with MY WAYS,,,but,,,nevertheless,,,IF YOU WANT SOMETHING done RIGHT and you want to be treated FAIR,,,, MRVIPER700 is the person to go see!!!!! I have one of Jeffs 780's, no problems and runs good. It will need freshened up next year, when that time comes it's going to Mr Viper 700. Jeffs 3 week turnaround on the kit turned into 3 months with a different excuse everytime I called, when he answered. I had no problems with his work but the customer service was poor.

guys this isn't a question of sending it anywhere for work to be done, he has the kit and we were wondering on dyno numbers so that we could get a baseline of what we are working with over stock. Another question on these 780's is are they alot worse on fuel than stock?
I agree with cacsrx1, I bought a set of triple pipes from Jeff. From the time I paid until I got my pipes was about 8 weeks. First I got the wrong pipes, then it took him 3 1/2 weeks later just to put the right ones in the mail. I like the pipes alot, they sound and perform good. Good product just bad customer service.

I found my notes from when I did talk to Jeff on the phone. Stage 1= 163hp, Stage 2, (hi rpm box and bored carbs) 168-170hp. Mine takes more fuel then it did when it was stock, but not a gas hog by any means. I have never been the first one looking for gas.

Yammieguy, yes they will drink more fuel then stock because to make them live youll be raising the needle and larger pilot jets. You spend 80% of the time trail riding on the pilot and needle circuits, its only on a long haul are you actually on the main jet. This is also why the piped vipers get such lousy mileage, the large 47.5-50 pilots in a viper with pipes drink the fuel every little blip of the gas, the raised needles allow alot more fuel to flow in the midrange as well. In big bore srx's I usually use 45-47.5 pilots.
I understand that you are not asking who to buy a kit from, but I surely wouldnt hesitate to call Jeff used kit or not, its his product. He will give you your set up specs and be able to answer any set up questions. I posted his phone number earlier for you.
Guys, lets not bash anybody paticular here, there is not enough yamaha aftermarket companys around, its not any good for any of them. Consumers will learn the places to go to and not to go to, but for now at least you have a choice of the companys offering yamaha performance products/services.

My intent was more of a "heads up" then a bash, sorry if it was not understood that way.
