2002 sx viper

I started the transformation of my new viper tonight after work. The guy that had it never even took all the stickers off. So I removed all the sticker, cut the plastic (reflector) from the rear and started polishing!!! I will put a clutch kit in before winter but, that's about it.

No it's not an ER yet. They were selling reverse at haydays for 300 bucks. Reverse would be nice. The whole suspension has been updated to an M10 no more no action suspension!!!!

I'm putting my 02 Viper up for sale if anyone is interested. It is one of the cleanest sleds out there with all top notch parts on it to make it an incredible trail sled. I'll sit down and put together a complete list but a quick summary is it has CPR pipes, Trail porting by Don, CPR head mod, Bender Gasket, CF reeds, Heavy hitter clutch, helix, 1 1/4 ripsaw with 144 studs, 8 tooth drivers, big wheel kit, C&A skis, hand guards, polished tunnel, polished skid. I built it to be one of the fastest, sharpest looking trail sleds out there. I bought the Sled new in 02 so it's very well taken care of. I'm putting it for sale for $3,500 if anyone is interested. PM me and I'll get you pictures and further details. Located in SW Michigan.

nice sled looks like it has updated shocks ,really like those red vipers. Is it an er?
How do you tell if it has updated shocks? Is ith the yellow spring? If so what does that mean by updated...softer or stiffer or what? I only ask because I just bought a blue Viper with the yellow springs but other ones I have seen had silver springs. Thanks for any info!

Any answer on this question. I'm currently looking around and wouldn't mind to know.

What are the differences with the 02, 03 and 04 SXViper? So far I found the 04 has the DCS system, thicker seat and upgraded pod. But this was not from a Yamaha site so any confirmation would be grateful. Also was ER only offered in 04?

thanks!

ER was available all years. DCS and soft seat, as you mentioned for 04' as well as the new style switch pods. They changed to the "finger" track in 03' and I believe this carried over to 04'. Shock recalibrations and updates occured after the complaints on the stiff 02's, otherwise just subtle graphic changes for each year with the exception of the 04' S. The S gave you several extra goodies but no reverse or e-start. The S had the 1.25 ripsaw, variable rate steel bodied rear shocks, front Ohlins, traction brackets, red ultra 2 skid, red flap, deep keel saddle-less skis and unique graphics. Best Viper built IMO.

Thanks for all the info! To bad they never had a SXViper S ER.

Is the pod that much nicer? I guess I should start going out and visiting these sleds for myself. With all the good info I got from here I feel I can make a better decision now.

I see on your avatar photo, which is one of the best I have seen of the sled, that you have blue beside the headlights and blue windshield. Are those always aftermarket or did the 02 where like that?

a friend of mine owns a yamaha dealership and the 02 viper i am looking at is going to be a trade in on a new fx nitro all he told me so far was that he would sell it to me for his cost, under 3000.00 he said im thinking like 2500.00 , i did see the sled once a few nicks here and there but overall in good shape and allways dealer maintained, i think i will jump on this deal because vipers are rare around here plus it`s in my price range.

Did you get your viper yet. I have one for sale. I bought a new Attack and need to sell the Viper 2002 that I have for sale
