Im seeing two different recommendations here... the reed notch, and reed spacers. Notch is free... if you do that, do you still need the spacers? If you go with spacers, is the notch necessary?
LET IT SNOW!!
LET IT SNOW!!
As far as I heard they do the same thing, just one is free and the other will run you 50 bucks, so if you do the notch I dont think you would have to do the spacers as well....

That's what I think they mean, just wanted to verify.
Good deal on getting one... sorry it wasn't mine. The particular sled I wanted sold on me, so I'm just gonna mod this a bit and be happy! Just had my clutches matched/machined for overdrive... can't wait for snow!

Turk's advice is invaluable!!
I have done everything Turk suggested except for the silencer mod, I'm a little worried about the loudness of it due to the fact that I take my 5 year old son on a lot of 100 mile rides.

I have been told by a guy that its louder than his Bender pipes that he is running now so its quite a bit louder than stock.I have decided not to do it on my sled because I don't want it too loud, especially with the pending noise regulations coming here.blkmax600 said:How much louder is the pipe by doing the silencer mod.?

I would definately forego the triple pipes they have been too much of a head ache for me. I had a set of Hauck Hushers and didn't feel much of a performance edge, but lost a lot in mileage. I would do the head mod, lot of folks don't believe the boost bottle is much of an improvement, but I am running two of them. I would also drop a tooth on the jackshaft gear. Reed spacers are on all my 700's. I've out dragged a couple stock Vipers with my old 97 set up this way.
Trust me the bored silencer isnt that loud, I put mine on and it sounds perfect. I might be considering selling mine and putting on something a little louder but I want to get on the trails and see how it is...

Good News..I have a 51/43 helix coming from cbperformance, I think I will try and find a good used stock silencer to mod, that way I can always put the none modded one back on for family rides or if I find it to loud.
Thats exactly what I did...put the clutch kit in yesterday thanks Turk! and Bruce!
I have a bored silencer if you want to try it out, you pay shipping both ways though. Silencer is not for sale. Mine was to loud for my wife so she wanted the stock one back on. Now she's got a Viper.
