Hey Guys...

What I'm curious on is installation...I haven't pulled my machine out to investigate but I'm curious how complicated is it to replace the Rotor and Hub?...Do I hafta open the chaincase etc and if so...what kind've mess would a rookie like me get into?(I also have reverse)
Basically I'm hoping to do a few things to my machine this fall including clutching and windage plates etc and hopefully reduce some rotating weight...Basically since the $ is almost on par with our CDN dollar I'm thinking of ordering soon...

Any info would be greatly appreciated..

yes, you have to open the chaincase, remove th chain and gears, unbolt the chaincase and slide out out off the jackshaft and driveshaft, youll also need to loosen up the rear track as much as possible. Dont disconnect the parking brake just slide the chaincase off with the rotor off the shaft, install in reverse order...peice of cake, nothing to it.

try and find someone close to you thats changed a track on a yamaha and have them over get some beer and pizza, they can help walk ya right thru it, its only about a hour job.

Huh...Piece of cake eh?...hmmm...my stomach dropped when you said loosen the track...are you saying that I'll hafta do more then just loosen the track from the rear axel?...
I guess I'm just nervous with my reverse and all...but now I'm contemplating if its really worth it...but then again...I'll ask around for fella yamaha riders that are close by and maybe it might not be all that bad...
Should I also look into new seals and gaskets for the chaincase?..or would I be fine if I take my time?...

the reason you have to loosen the tension off the track is once you slip the chaincase off the driveshaft it will snap into a crroked wedge in the tunnel and you wont be able to slip the driveshaft backinto the chaincase and not ruin the oil seal. You dont need anything new except for some gear lube for the case, everything else is all reuseable.

This isnt hard, if you have never done it before see if someone from this site or someone who has changed the track on a yamaha before can come over and lend a hand, if you were closer I could do it while you opened the beers for me...LOL!!
 
if you do this, check out that they give you the brake pad shims that most of the light weight ones require. Sometimes they will tell you to order them from Yamaha. Either way, you do not want to take it apart twice.

But I'd swear there's a guy closer in Mississauga...but then again..he might not of
taken out his track..we'll see...Thanks Guys so far for your input...
