121in. VS 136in. Track

Fact, 136" track will give more floatation due to bigger footprint(therefore more traction)
Opinion, i will never go back to a 121" track just because the 136" still handles great in the the trails, and is much better in the soft stuff, and provides WAY more hook up. of course that would also depend on the track but im gonna compare apples to apples with that one.(same size lug,pattern)
 
I will never run a 121" track again. I had a 136 last season and going to a 144 this year. IMO...The 136 ( and longer ) bridge the studder bumps much better. It is correct that you will get better traction due to the longer footprint. Your floatation should be better as well. Keep in mind tho that the longer track will not help you getting on top of the snow, that is all in the approach angle.

It has been and always will be argues on the corning ability of these two sizes. The 4 stroke side has post after post about this topic. For me, I could get my 136 around ANY, Yes I said ANY corner just as fast as when I had my 121. It will just take one or two rides for you to get used to it and then you won't even realize you have 4 more inches of track on the ground.

Go for it, you would not be disappointed. Do a search for this topic on the 4 stroke side and you will be reading for days.

My only worry is top end loss cause Im looking to put it on my SRX(My Go Fast Sled). But in reality IDK what the hell I wanna do, just to many opitions. And here they are:

Keep the 121in ExpertX in the Viper with the 1.25 Predator Non Studded and put the 136in Mono in the SRX with a 1in Predator Studded
OR
Vise verusa.......Put the 136in Mono in the Viper with a 1.25in Non Studded Predator and install the ExpertX(Set-Up For LOTS Of TRANSFER) in the SRX with the 1in. Predator with either 144 or 192 Studs.

I am also in the process of extending my Viper. I have the 136 X 1.25 stabbed in place. It sure looks like a lot more than 4 additional inches (post #3 above) of track on the ground. Can't wait to try it out! Hartman did recommend a reduction in gear ratio to 2:1 or something like that. I am going to put mine together and ride it before I make any additional changes like that.
 
I have posted on this topic MANY times. Own 3 sleds at 136. @001 Venture, 2002 Viper, 2006 Attak. Venture is stock except for a Ripsaw added last year. Still runs 110 indicated. Viper has 8 tooth drivers, effectively geared down 2 teeth. Still runs 105. Attak, put the Ripsaw on the Venture, put 1.25 Predator on the Attak. Will run118-120 all day, have seen 126 on 1 PERFECT occasion. That should addres your speed concerns. HANDLING; As 1 Crazy Sledder stated, 1 or 2 rides, you'll never notice the added lenght. Except when the trails get rough!! PROPERLY SETUP, my Viper ran with all the hotshoe 05 RX1's at the 05 TY rides in the twisties. I will more than likely NEVER own a 121 again! NUFF SAID?
 
i would definately recommend a 2:1 gear ratio if you are running a track any bigger than the 1.25"
i will not look back at the 121" track again.
 
Yea Im gunna stick with the ExpertX in the Viper cause that was my original Rough Trail/Off Trail sled. But I may extend it to 136in in the future.

Now I have to decide to SELL or INSTALL the MONO 136in on the SRX and stud the hell out of it. I know Ill loose some top end but Ill gain alot of acceleration.
 
I completely agree guys. I've been running a 136" M10 SRX for last 4 years. Shes going to 151" as we speak with 2" camo finger track, 42/21 gears & 8T extros. Couldn't imagine running 121" again
 
What about a 128 x 15 x 1.25? I would think this would be the ideal length for bumps, cornering and maintaining top end???

Why go through the work and added cash for such a small gain? Might as well go to 136 and be done with it.
 
Sometimes less is more thats why. I believe part of the Firecat success was the narrow 13.5 x 128 track myself.....
