Case Assembly - HELP!
I was doing so good. After I set the crankshaft in the lower case and test fit it a couple times, I re-cleaned the case sealing surface and added the Yamabond. I dropped the top case over the crank and thought I was home free.
I hand started the shorter case bolts and then I rolled the case assembly over on its side to install the longer bolts. Next thing I know; I see oil running out through the case sealing surfaces that I just put the Yamabond on it. The oil is the 0.85 oz I added to the water pump/oil pump gear area per the shop manual.
Now I have to take it all apart and clean it over again....
Does anyone have a trick for this??????????? I need to go drink a beer and cool off.
Thanks, G.B.

OK, I just cracked a beer and the case one more time......... So maybe it was a good thing that oil ran out all over the place. I separated the cases and the Yamabond did not stick to the lower case too much. I was a little concerned when I was applying the Yamabond that is was drying too fast as it is 83 plus degrees in my garage.
I think I am going to wait for the temperature to drop on Tuesday this week before I try to put the case back together. So in the mean time, I would greatly appreciate any tips on how to prevent the oil from running out when I am installing the bolts.
Thanks! G.B.

Thanks so much Blues. I really appreciate it.
Brett.............
I install the crank in the top half of the case first, by simply placing blocks of wood on the bench then resting the studs for the cylinders on the blocks, this lets the connecting rods hang thru the case top and not hit the bench. apply your yamabond and instasll bottom half, its alos so much easier to align the main crank beraings on the pilot dowels/studs.

Thanks MrViper,
I am good with all this but what about the 0.85 oz. of engine oil you are supposed to put in the water pump/oil pump gear area?
Thanks, G.B.
I just place a few drops of motor oil on the bearings when I assemble them, You can also be sneaky and just remove the oilpump from back of case and squirt it in there. never ever have had 1 issue doing it this way.

OK, the oil sure ran out of the oil pump shaft bearing easy enough before I installed the oil pump. I see how that could work. Thanks so much for your help MrViper! G.B.
