My 1998 600vmax has no top end and uses fuel real bad. It idles perfect and starts good. I cleaned the carbs, rebuilt clutch and secondary, replaced fuel pump and changed exhaust. The compression is good. Any tips? Dennis

I tried a bunch of setting including stock, which the sled is.

you need to know what your RPM is a WOT. If you are really overreving will cause some bad mileage. Also the reed spacers or notch will help with gas mileage issues.
And then jetting, if you are running pig rich this will not help.

the sled was running great, then the gas mileage and top end went to hell. I did no changes to the sled when this happened.

maybe that is the problem....you did nothing.
Have the clutches ever been cleaned and carbs. Bushings checked, track tension and so on. maybe all you need is a little maintenance.
