8 Inch oversize Wheels-- Worth it??

Hey guys, I'm in the process of rebuilding my srx.... Engines getting done and I also purchased a new track. I had a post last week if I could run the track with the stock drivers and everyone said i can. Its a 1 inch hacksaw with 192 1.175 warthog studs. My question is would it be worth investing the money in a set of 8 inch oversize wheels, I think they would really make the sled look good, but performance wise how well do they do?? Is it worth putting them on? My other question is if I decide to buy a set of them can I run them even though I'm running the track I am? Just not 100% sure on this and none of my buddies have ever ran these. The kit I'm thinking about buying comes from royal distributing. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance for the responses.
 
with 8 inch wheels youll need a offset axle, if you already run the 5.350 idler wheels on the small 6 of them you can upgrade to the 7.5" rear wheels and they will simply bolt right on, no offset axle needed then.
 
I put on the 6 5.350" idlers on mine and also put in the 7.5" rear wheels.You'll just have to play with the spacers between the wheels,ie)cut them down to get the right spacing because of the bearing change thickness.Did mine first and then had to re-do.The 2 center ones where off a bit.They should be in line with the 2 inside idler wheels.Did this with my SXR last year and with no problems with the wheels or the track,got the alignment right the first time.If you are off a bit,might end up chewing up the wheels a bit against the cogs the wheels run center in.Larger rear wheels should help with rolling resistance,how much..I don't know.
 
when you do all 6 small ones to the 5.350 and the 4 in back to 7.5, it rolls alot more freely, when you let off the gas it coast along like a bicycle, not dragging down like theres a brake on. All you have to do is remove a 1/8th inch off the spacers because the bearings are atad wider then the 2000-02 yamaha wheels are. I used 1979 srx440 rear wheels for my own sleds, they come in all black plastic versions.
 
Yep that works well mrviper700.Not as costly as going to an 8"rear wheel set-up with an off set axle.My sliders are in great shape to,but I installed ice-scrathers on my SXR for hard packed conditions or low snow..it works to.
Over all a good set-up to have.Did the same set-up on my SRX and will see how the sliders do this winter.Yes rear wheels from the 79 SRX are what I ordered to.
