I wish you luck finding an SX that isnt all beat to death. Ive been looking for one for the past 3 years and havent found a good one yet that I could get for a fair price.
It seems like all the ones I find are either all beat up or the seller wants waaaay more than its actually worth.

Well there is a member on here that is selling one, which I hope it isnt beat, and I am hoping to see it this weekend at the Snow Show in Milwaukee.

What are you looking to step up to?
You looking to spend around $2,000
I think you can find a 97 or 98 SX 700 for around 1500
You might even be able to pick up a nice 2000 SRX for about $2,000

I have been looking but I can seem to find anything really, the only thing I found so far is a 99 600SX for 1500. So if you can find me something close to me for around that price that would be great. I am looking for either a 99-02 SX or SXR 700 or even a 600.....

I saw you posted but Charlevoix Michigan is not that far from you. If I was serious about selling this sled, I would meet you somewhere in the U.P. with the sled.
This one is really nice

I know that any sled is better than no sled, but I think Id pass on one with the 600 twin in it.
IMO, that engine was never all that great and a 600 or 700 would be 10x the motor that a 600 twin was.
There used to be an SRX for sale in Milton, WI. If I remember correctly, you're from Whitewater, arent ya Coles? Not sure if that sled is still available, but if it were that might be an option. It used to be parked on the side of the road out there kinda by the Caddie Shack on Hwy 26. Right now theres a YZ 250 for sales where the sled used to be.
You could also try Rock River Powersports in Jefferson. They are a great dealership and you never know what will turn up there. They often take sleds in on consignment and you might be able to find some good for pretty cheap.
I know that Heckel's Marine in Eagle River, WI has a couple SXs. I think one is an '01 SXr 700 and the other is an '00 SXr 500. Last year I was thinking about picking up the 500. I think they wanted something like $1800 for it, but a lot of people tried to steer me away from a Yamaha with a twin-cylinder engine. If the 700 is still there this winter I just might see if I can get a deal on it. That would be a 4-hour drive, which you said is a little more than you are bargaining for.
Hopefully something will come up. We are supposed to have a pretty good winter this year and I sure feel bad for you if we had an awesome winter for once and there you sit with no sled.
I'll keep an eye out and if I see anything I will let you know.
Ive noticed that ever since Yamaha went 4-stroke that 2-strokes like SXs, SXrs, Vipers and Venoms are getting to be kind of hard to find. I think a lot of people really loved the old 2-strokers and are snatching them up as quick as they can so that they will at least have parts for their older sleds.
Good luck.

^^I agree....to a point , i've had twins all my life and they never let me
down and i'm glad i own them, but.....would i buy another over a triple no
i would not, a triple is so much smoother and and fuel efficient it's not funny, so IMO stick with a trip....

Well I will give those two places a call and see what they all have in stock, and ya on my way home I will stop in Milton and see if that sled is still there.....but im looking for a non-pv sled just cause I have no background in them and would hate to buy a used SRX and have to replace the PV's....
