Hey guys, just a quick question about the bearing on the drive axle. I know there have been a lot of posts on here about how hard it can be to remove them on the speedometer side. Im in the midst of a track swap and i was just wondering is the bearing pressed on? or is it supposed to slide on nice and then the set screws hold it in place. The only reason I ask is I had to cut the outter race of the bearing while it was still in the machine... (by the way a dremel tool works amazing for this, best $80 i ever spent lol) after removing the outter race then i was able to get the axle out and take it to work and use the press to get the inner race off. It wasnt siezed on there by any means but it was quite snug, thats why I bring up the question. Thanks in advance for the help
Nothing that a small gear puller shouldn't pull off. They are not supposed to be that tight. Clean up that shaft before you put the new one on.

lol for sure, i fought with mine for a few ours then just decided to cut the bearing off and replace it, lol saved some swearing and throwing things. It is definately in a frustrating spot to get at. Thanks for the responses guys, and i'll definately be cleaning that shaft up.... what do you guys think about putting never-seize on the shaft?? I know we do it at work but was wondering about it on the sled, especially with the set screws?? any thoughts??
Great idea !!! I have been using never seize on the axle bearing for years. You'll never have a stuck bearing again !!!

I drilled the rivets for the retainer in the tunnel and took the retainer out with the shaft. Easier to get the puller on the bearing with the shaft out. On the install I just riveted from the speedo side. Just had to drill the holes bigger in the bearing cover to make it clear the rivet heads.

I removed the retainer also. But my bearing still was nasty to pull off.Used dremel and cut it slowly.
