doo 1000

Kinger, 172 hp? Not likely. I know that Bombardier claims 172 hp, but it's probably in the 150's in reality, depending on the dyno, which is still very respectable out of the box. My trail sled had nowhere near 172hp. It was a 780 big bore with very mild porting, stock pipes, and 38mm carbs. It would have been somewhere in very low 160's for power, and was pulling 124 mph in 2000 feet with 96 trail studs in a trail track. The Mach Z's won't pull those speeds on top end, even after 5000 feet. My SRX when the motor was stock ran 127.1 mph on the ice, and was running 114-115 in 2000 feet, with a trail track and trail studs. Mind you, it was setup quite well, and would not have run anywhere near that out of the crate.

We verified and I had him fill it twice with me watching like a hawk and I checked it personally! LOL He got just a titch over 20 on one tank and like 19.6 on another if I remember right I was shocked. Keep in mind this was trail riding under 50 mph and no spots to open it up (was in the hills of SD on gromed trails). He does ride it like a girl though too, he won't let me ride it so I won't know what it would do under my thumb. I know the vipers were supposed to get like 13-14 and i never got much better then 10!

LOL ok I'm not defending any more doo's here!! All I can go by is the claims if they are wrong or not I don't know. I know that we have one in the group, it is fast only on the nitrous I can beat it and I know it got near 20 on the 2 tanks I made him test. Nuff said on this.

I HIT ALL THE NY ICE SPOTS. ONLY REALLY FAST ONES I HAVE SEEN ARE ON SPRAY. I HAVE SEEN AFEW ON GRASS THAT WERE AWFUL. TELL YA THE TRUTH, I THINK THE 97-02 MACH Z 800 WERE MORE OF A RACER THAN THESE THINGS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I had a similar run in with a couple mach z`s, 2003 and 2004, and i was running my old red head single pipe. Boy do they get pissed when they lose and i lift the hood to prove it`s only a single piper.
Do you have any mods done to yours?I have never raced one, but figured I would'nt have a prayer!

Man do you guys ever crack me up with them Ski-doo vs an SRX races.I just love how the SRX consistantly will outrun a newer and larger displacement sled.Again,it is only a little 700 and can hold it's own and you have nothing to be ashamed at.Yamaha should bring back a special edition SRX and the only people allowed to own one would be previous owners of SRX's.That would be a seller for Yamaha.Again when the 98 SRX's came out, after many years of not be produced,my local dealer told me they sold around 100 of them that year. They told me it was crazy, but people jumped to the gun when the 98's came out.

Well it was a 97 sx and it was clutched , 1 1/4 track and geared down a tooth. So it should of lost top end but that wasn`t the case. I wasn`t studded and the mach`s were so they got me out of the hole but i caught them and passed em 3 times in a row. If my buddies(all polaris and doo guys) weren`t there i`m not sure any would of believed me. That sled ran great! Wish i still had it.

YOU GUYS WONDER WHY YAMAHA NEVER MADE THE SRX 800. BECAUSE THE SRX 700 BEAT EVERYBODYS ELSE 700, 800, 900 , AND 1000. !! lol. 3:16 (yammie tony)

True. Some of the Z´s what I´ve seen take a lot of tinkering and tuning to get running fast.

They have potential, but it´s real hard to get it out. Good tuner with time and right parts make them fly, in all stock form they just are equal with my Vmax-4 800. And that is just sad for a sled what cost such amount of $$ and has the 200cc advantage + newer tech.

2 stroke for sure and I would be wrestling with you to be the first in line Skidooslayer687 to get one...LOL! Lets keep in touch about the Heelclicker
setups that we have and info one another on our progress. Can't wait to try it out, hope I am very close the first time.Less wrenching this winter and more riding for me...LOL.
And solid info there YAMMIEGOD3:16,right on dude.Ride on dude.

Interesting, sounds quite similar to my setup, only I have a 136" ripsaw track.Maybe it runs alot better than I realize, it seems quick, but just figured I would not hang with those other sleds.Perhaps I should do some racing this next winter on some of our local lakes!

Yes they did. And it was a good choice for ski-doo. Why keep a bigger, more expensive sled on the line when you have a smaller, lighter, and about as powerful sled for less coin?

Them 1000's couldn't stand up.I knew a guy that had one and one time he was on the Lake at WOT and KABooM!!!!!!!!! Last I heard he and the Dealer where in a big fight over who pays for it.Apparently a $7000 repair bill.Basically a whole new Engine.Seems he had just past warranty period, but he took an extra year of warranty at purchase time,so who knows who blames who for what happened. The guy is a little weird,he can be called MR PINIT,because that's all he did..just pinned it.He has been in many accidents and survived them all...and what gets me is that when I was the only Yamaha riding with him and his brothers and my mechanic(They all ride Ski-doo's),he wore a Yamaha Jacket to boot. One time we were riding late one night and he blew a belt on the 1000.It was really wrapped around things, maybe this was the beginning of his troubles.Glad I was on a Yamaha.

One of my best buds hasa 05. Wicked fast; great on fuel but blows a $150 belt evry 500 miles. He has 3000 miles & no issues. My good running attak ain,t even close.
