Want to install a 136" Warrior susp. into my Viper.
I checked the tech. pages ,but did not see a post dealing with such an install.
Thinking about getting dimensions from a 136 venture or an 05 rage, not sure which one would work best also not sure if the venture pro action is the same as the 136 warrior.
What do you think??

Same skid. Put one in my Viper with Ohlins shocks. If you have access to the donor sled, youl need the hole dimensions from it. Did you get drop bracket's with the skid? You'll need them to get the proper hole locations. Put about 3,000 miles on mine with this setup. With about 12,000 on the rest of the sled I parked it. Still miss some things about it though LOL!

I would be getting the skid alone.
Have an 05 rage in the garage, can I simply take the dimensions and locations off it and apply them to the Viper?

Yes. You have to have the drop bracket's though. The top rear idler shaft will go through the horizontal center of your running board without them. DON"T cheat that dimension up trying to get by with out the bracket. I did this for 1 trip and it rode like a log wagon. You'll also need the tunnel extension. My stuff all came off a MSRX, but when comparing them to my 2001 Venture, they were the same. Ran the hosecovers and bumper from the MSRX as well.

Hold the phone!! I just remembered that the Warrior suspension is called Pro Action CK. NOT sure the dimensions will be the same. Maybe someone that has a Warrior will chime in and let us both know the right dimensions. Should be the same, but not positive.

I think they are the same I have one in my viper . All my stuff came from Maxximum
Performance when they were still in business. A also do have a template I can copy and send you if you want and the parts list too .

The "top rear idler shaft" being the middle set of bolts?
That pair of hole locations will be moved back about 7 " or so on the viper the way it looks. At that point the hole needs to be centered in the tunnel from top to bottom?
Thanks for the info!

No, the most rearward, with the large idler wheels on it. Grab that template! It will make the job much easier.

I think the CK stands for the clicker screw adjustment on the rear shock.
Sneeky,
That template would be great. I will PM you my address,
Thanks

Ok . One more thing do not let your center shock go you will want to at least use the spring . The worrior spring is way too stiff and it rides realy bad . I changed my shock and it rode much better .

defiinatly copy the rage rear skid hole dimensions,I have 3 of them 2 are 05 ck proaction skids and 1 is a 05 mono shocker. yamaha claims that the warrior/rage rear skids have an improved " ATTACK/APROACH ANGLE". I'll have to look at my neighbors 98 venture to verify if it's different or B/S.It should be down here soon to get serviced. Your rear viper shock is shorter than the warrior shock.

THATS what I remembered! The Warrior shock wasn't a direct replacement for my Viper Shock. Ended up with the Ohlins.

The worrior shock will work as long as you have the 2 flat bars that run paralel to the shock . And yes they are different . That is why you can't mix and match . I put the Worrior skid in my Viper and it works good with the clicker shock .

I did this exact swap, after measuring and pondering I ended up buying a template from Mountain performance that made life much easier - BUT as these guys mentioned the Warrior shock and "parralel rods" are longer than your Viper as well as being longer than the Mountain perf template (their template was a mountain max skid conversion template). So I swapped the Viper shock and rods into the Warrior skid and all was well and fit great with the aide of their template.

Just as Viper Dave said though, you will need the stock Warrior rear drop brackets, or Mountain performance once again has some real nice billet brackets and that is what I used.

I believe I still have the template if you interested in it, I think I paid $50 for it (check their site as I am not sure exactly) but you can have it for half of that.

Whatever route you go, just try to get your shaft mount hole locations as close as possible to where they should be, these coupled skids wil bind up if you are off too far

sorry if these kind of strays, but it's a skid swap ?

What does it take to put a RX-1 skid with rail extensions into a Viper?

thanks,

As long as it is a Pro-action (pre 05) RX-1 it should be a direct bolt in. Just curious why an RX skid? as long as we are talking about the Pro-action there is no real big diferance other than the RX using differant shocks. Your Viper Kayaba's can be re-valved to suit your needs.

A few more ? have come to mind after looking @ the Rage tunnel.and susp.
Do I need to do any mods to the floor bd. heat exchangers as far as being able to mount the drop plates?
Can I take my rear heat exchanger(Yammie) and move it to the back of the tunnel extension?
I DO want the Warrior CK shock left in the skid. If thats not possible then the project is a no go.
Thanks

THANKS FOR THE PIC!
Looks like an Ohlien shock? For a stock viper ,right?
I want to keep the CK shock in place so I guess the center set of mounting holes would be a little further back than yours.

the ck on the warrior was because of the adjustable shock. The rest is the same. the cb performance drop brakets would work for the drop . I can measure mine tomorow, and get you measurements. Maxdlx
