what can you get performance wise for this sled?
Thin the head gasket or shave the head to raise compression, 2 degree timing key or move the coil pick up counter clockwise to advance timing & clutching.
depends on the year of sx500r. i had damn near everything done to mine that could be done. here is the list;
-mbrp trail can (twin pipes too finicky)
-reed stopper notch (improves starting and makes sled snappyer)
-vmaxjhons clutchung from the tec pages (very worth it)
-engine torque limiter
the rest of the mods where for the chassis/handleing.
-121" 1-1/4" camoplast ripsaw
-ice scratchers
-02 viper skis
-srx rear heat exchanger
-cb performance front end kit (best one yet)
-putting the 1999 sx500r gearing in. 00-01 was dropped one tooth on the top so it only did 80mph before i fixed it.
great little sled that i still miss some times in the twistys as it handled like it was on rails. only mod that i had left to do to it was porting and maybe a big bore but i was undecided on that.

PG.....Maim SX500R sounded sweet with low end growl for a twin. His mods really did help that sled...He kept up with us big boys on the 700 tripples.
The only down fall was the gas mileage on the 500. But the machine was a little rocket. Now he has gone to the dark side (4 stroke Warrior) and so far all I can see are his tail lights.....GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

sorry never did film that sled with a camcorder so i have no sound clips from it pg.
i sold that sled to my youngest brother and if you are running with 600-700 tripples a tour buddy is a very good investment. milage wise it needs 1 gallon more to make the same difference with the 99 gearing.
yamyrider- just wait. it is getting ulmers stage3 clutching kit this winter and olins if i can ever find out if they are coming off of backorder. ill have to pm you when whitewater has ice so you can come and test and tune yours. bring the kids as the enticers still need more running than i gave them last season.
