Can anyone confirm that 23/38 will NOT work with a 68 link chain? The chart says it won't, but I'm wonding if it can be done. I want to change my gearing and I'm hoping I don't need a new chain.
Also, the 03 Viper was HYVO right? Even with reverse?
Thanks.

It will not. I just tried it about 2 weeks ago in an SRX. And yes it's Hyvo, even with reverse.

Ouch $$$, didn't plan for that!
It might ease the pain a little if you sent me the full size of your Avatar, lol.
Thanks.

I'm going to update this in the hopes of saving someone some money down the road. Contrary to what the Yamaha gearing chart says, you can use a 68 link chain with 23/38 gears. At least it works on my 03 Viper with reverse.
It is tricky, you must slide gears and chain on all at the same time. If you use the 70 link chain, the amount of extra slack is just crazy. I recommend the 68 link.
