2001 Sx-r 700 hepl, or advice

Hi I'm new here and I come with a Question. I have a 2001 SX-R 700, Hauck pipes, Clutched, thin head gaskets, reed spacers, adjustable control rods. 1.25 camoplast track. I'v had my sled since I ordered (power surged) it in 2000. I live in northern MN. I'm a CNC Programmer/Machinist for a living so as you can guess my goodie making capabilities are ENDLESS for my toys. I want more off trail versatility out of my 700 so I want to convert it to a 136" for as inexpensive as possible. How's to whole rail extension idea?? I could fabricate those easily. Or should I try to get rails out of another 136" pro action?? Different skid all together??? Please help me out, Thanks a bunch

I'm guessing that for what you probably make an hour and what they sell them for you'd be better off just buying a set of rail extensions.

Well here's the catch, to buy them is roughly $150-$180 a set, for me to make them its finding some drops in the 6061 Alum scrap barrell and spending a couple hours making them!! Just curious about the durability and reliability of the extension way of long tracking??! I'm a fairly aggressive rider and I'd just hate to go the extension route and have it fail when maybe I could've gotten full length rails or a differnt skid instead. Just curious

I just put Tracks Usa 136" rail extensions on my sled and they look very rugged and come with rave reviews from pretty much anyone you talk to on these internet forums.I have not used mine yet so I can't speak from experience, but am confident they will work well.I paid 115 for mine with a track purchase from them as well, if you buy from them get the track too as the extensions are 50 less with a track purchase. There prices on tracks are very competitive anyways.I bought my tunnel extension from Rich motorsports on here which is a Hartman kit and I geared down 1 tooth on the top sprocket with a 68 link chain.I hope this helps and good luck.
