Like title says, can someone confirm what power is at the tailight. Is it AC or does it go thru a rectifier before this point?
Thanks,
Thanks,
Nobody-the more I searched on here and the net on this the more I got confused- I should have just asked the wife, it would have had the same effect LOL. My take is the stator/ignition are putting out AC initially, but I believe most of the systems including lighting are going thru a rectifier, and hence DC. ? I'm building a seat riser and want to put an LED brake/tail combe on the back of the riser, that's how his all started. Sounds like some light bars will work even with the AC if that was the case, so may not matter after talking to some of the manufacturers. If not, will just have to add a small inline rectifier. (Whatver that is-haha)
Depends on the sled, which one are you referring to?
you were correct, comes out ac is then dc after it goes thru the rectifier/regulator, all the bulbs and such are all dc 12 volt units.

not to jack this thread, but I want to set the record straight. If someone wanted to run a dc unit such as a heated visor,12v plug or a gps, they could just tap into the wire that is running to the rear tail light and it would supply 12 volts of direct current. This of coarse is on a 98-02 SRX Am I correct?????????
I have read a bunch of threads on this and people are making me very confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you are correct. Although the dimmer switch power supply wire is a better source of cleaner power then the tailight one is, plus its closr to the bars and you can neatly tuck your power lead under the pad, when not in use just tuck it under the edge, stealth....

Ground up in handlebar?
I'm running power from the blue wire from the dimmer switch. Can I use the black wire for a ground connected to the hand warmers?
