Thats a nice lookin 95, I had one myself and it is still one of my all time favorite sleds. I gotta tell ya though, the old Max 4's where not that light, if I am not mistaken I think dry wieght is pretty close to an Apex. Either way that is a classic piece of Yamaha history!!!
Yes, The old V-4s are extremely heavy.
If I had to tak a guess, They would weight about the same at a GT ot RTX

Very Nice!!!! I love the flames. I too am biased on the old 4's. In the right hands and right conditions they will give any new big cc sled a run for their money (and then some). Heavy? YES. Thirsty? YES. But so is a Hemi Cuda or LS-6 Chevelle. They are ANIMALS!! and will take ther place in history.
They are not a sled for everybody but then who wants to be everybody.

Thirsty you got that right, if I go playing hard it costs the enviroment big time so I usually try to stay behind other people to keep them out of the pollution and so I can go further than 65 miles. The best addition I did to the sled though was put a suspension in out of an XT boy o boy talk about a new ride. One of these days I'll upgrade to a four stroke but it'll be really hard to get rid of the old beast had it for almost 9 years that's the longest by far that I've had anything except my wife.

Same thing here, also even though both mine have quads on them I still get 8-9 mpg on the trails.

I've ridden almost 90 miles and didn't run out but I bet I was very close and that was again staying behind the smaller machines. The one thing I noticed it sure really matters how you clutch those sleds and what kind of belt you run. When I first got it no word of a lie I got only about 100 miles out of a belt. With every clutch upgrade that I did as per Yamaha USA it got better. Now with the Yamaha belt the life is phenomenol for a high horsepower sled.

I only run the OEM 8BU belt and by keeping everything aligned and the belt shimmed 3000 miles is normal for fast trail riding.
Alot lighter , that's a good one, I do remember you getting that beast stuck once ( sore my back )............

Yeah yeah it's not light but there is alot of other sleds out there that will find rocks under 2 feet of snow just by weight alone. I have experinced this first hand with other machines :
