cheap mods for 96 Vmax 600

I have been given a 96 Vmax 600 to use for the year and i was wondering if there is a couple of cheap mods to do. i all ready have 2 peices of the head gasket took out leaving 3 other then tahst it is pretty stock.

reed notch? what is that?


We just got a 97 venture 600 and I am looking at cheap easy and quick mods to make it go better, despite not even having ridden it yet ;)
I have heard the 97 600's have better cylinders -esp in the transfer ports, is this true?
 
Check the Tech Pages for the reed notch, andI know the 600 triples are faster and better but couldnt tell ya on the twins. Just do a lot of searches and you will find good information.

so, if I reed :D this right, this minor mod does the same as adding the reed spacers?

what kind of hp peppyness does this add?

can i put a notch in my reeds, i was under the impression that 96 and 97 have differnet reeds and the tech section says 97 and up? i would like to know if i can change this befor i go cutting stuff up
 
the help would be a great help this sled has been in my family sence it was new and i wouldnt want to do something to screw it all up i just want to know would i put the notch directly in the center for 96 reeds and are there any other things i could do for the sled
