The clutch tuning per turk's specs, is this setup the one that's in the technical section? Do you know your buddies exact clutch setup now...weights, helix, spring? Right now our dad's sled has a ripsaw track on it....so the good track thing is taken care of. Would he (my bro) be better off buying a hauck clutch kit, or setting it up per turks setup? Thanks guys for all this great info coming in!![]()
He just wanted to have them look at the stuff because he's paranoid

Ok I found it. This is the setup he's using:

50/44 dalton; micro belmont; hauck cut of helix is fine.
My friend got the Micro Belmont helix.

why would yamaha even make the gyt pipes for the 500/600? I hear they were great on the earlier vmax's

here's what turk pm'ed to me:
8ca weights, 50/44 helix, 2.4g in each hole, make sure it runs at 7800
turk never told me how much wrap. so its 60 deg? that would be holes 3-3..correct? which weights should I use....the 8ca or 8ab?
he also never told me what secondary spring. so i should use the green spring?

When did he send you that information? That was the setup he recommended originally then changed it to what I posted. Or at least the post using the 8ca weights is a lot older than the one recommending the 8ab's...
You can see the posts here:
8ca's his post is number 6
And here's the post about using the 8ab's:

Where can you get the new weights? Dealer? Which sled had them stock?
Anything else thats needed? Where would I get a 50/44 helix?

I'm running GYT twins and they made a hell of a performance difference. I'm still a bit on the fat side but hopefully I'll get some tuning time in the very near future. Supposed to snow sat and Sunday.

You can either get the weights from the dealer or try to find some used ones on here in the classifieds section. Look around on Google or ebay for a Micro Belmont, Dalton or Hauck helix. Or even on here. The ones from Micro Belmont are really nice looking, when my friend got his I ordered it for him and I think it was around $100 new (shipped). They're located in Grand Rapids Michigan. Here's their number if you need it:
MICRO BELMONT, INC.
5390 Clay Avenue Southwest
Grand Rapids, MI, 49548 USA
Phone: 616-534-9681
Fax: 616-532-2275
Don't forget to get the new rivets...

Here's the chart showing what weights came on what...
