I recently bought pipes that were suppose to be Hauck Hushers, but they look exactly like Simmons CPR's, but they say Hauck on them, though I am aware they are made by the same company. Does anyone know what I am actually dealing with here?
They came with an opticool gasget. There are 3 pieces to the gasget. Do I use all three? The head is stock.
Any suggestions at jetting at 1800 feet for -10 to -20 degree celcius would be appeciated.

Made by CPR for Hauck...Great pipes for high rpm running...For trails tho go with Bender or Aaen..

Yes, Jeff Simons made those pipes for Hauck originally. I think he went back to AAEN for his Viper pipes. There was some falling out between those two, but I am not sure of the details. I had a set of the CPR's for part of a season on my 2002 along with a Speedwerx head to level out the compression. (during the 2003-2004 season). I popped the motor (my fault) and went back to stock. They had awesome top end IF the temperature outside was perfect. If it was warm ,around 32 deg. F ,it ran like a pig, drank alot of fuel and could only top out our other stocker. Otherwise ,on a day like that ,the stocker gave me fits in the low end and midrange. On a cool day it was completely opposite. I guess my point is, they seemed a bit flat in the low/midrange, but came on like crazy on top end. If I were to do it over again, I would choose Bender or SLP for all around trail riding. If I wanted to race, I'd go with these pipes for sure. My buddy has a BB780 that's stretched out to 136", AD Boiven skid, 1.5" Camo, , Mega power heads, etc. w/ CPR pipes and that thing is very impressive. No dead spots there. The Viper with pipes just performs better all around with the BB kit. Go figure. From what I have heard, they tend to be more reliable too.

my buddy had the hauck husher pipes on his 2002 viper last year and he never had a problem. jetting was spot on. ran it in temps down to -17 deg ferenheit and it never burnt down. it never ran rich or anything weird like that in the warmer temps. Always ran fast and consistant. His pipes don't look the the ones in redsnake's avatar. all 3 pipes sit nice and neatly off to the side like the srx's. this other guy i know had the cpr simmons pipes on his 2002 viper and he said that his ran pig rich. sucked gas like crazy and don't give it to much choke when warming it up or it would spit a plug. I've seen better results with the hauck pipes than with the cpr's. i've heard nothing but good things about the bender pipes as well. american snowmobiler voted them the best pipes too for the viper.

Talk to Simmons CPR
lots of guys running those pipes on here
I have a Atacc for jetting so I cant really help
I think his instructions have jetting rec. on them?
mine is at home, I might be able to fax you them or Simmons could e-mail?

the CPR pipes work well and they can be reliable but the engine needs some work first, mainly cylinder head work. The 780 viper Journeyman is talking about is one of my engines I redid for a member on this site, its runs good and is reliable because the heads and the porting are set up right. The viper has a lousy cylinder head and it has alot of problems with cooling evenly(the mag side runs hot), so when you switch to either separate srx heads or the aftermarket heads, you can fix all the problems. The mega power heads are the best only because they hold alot more water and aid in the cooling, you just recut the domes and set up the squish clearance and reangle it and the engines are powerfull and reliable. They wont get great gas mpg ever as youll need either 47.5-50 pilot jets, rasied needles and depending on how you venbt your carbs main jets in the neighborhood of 155-162.5 mains, all depends if you run the vent line hooked up to the airbox or not. Your clutching also plays a role in your gas mpg.

My viper is a 02, stock head, i called hauck today and was told to unhook vent lines run 150 main 47.5 pilot and #4 needle position on all carbs for 1880 feet.does anyone disagree with this?

I know the instructions says stock 45 pilots, but my buddies viper would have a hanging idle once in a while, so maybe they had some complaints on that or more field testing and opted to go with fatter pilots. The needles I think are suppose to be left in the stock postition. I can check instructions once I get home. The mains I know are 148 pto and center, while 150 for the mag side. I will double check all this once I get home.

Is this true for all the after market pipes on Vipers? I have read the Bender instructions and there addendum to their jetting specs and there is no mention to the needles. Are you talking about actually swapping out the needles to a smaller needle or just raising the clip position?

this post refers to the cpr pipes

the jetting specs that I posted, refered to the hauck pipes not the cpr's. dunno if there was a little confusion?

Here's exactly what the hauck jetting sheet says for the pipes:
Jetting is for sea level @ 10 deg. above ferenheit
PTO-center-Mag
147.5-147.5-150 Mains
STD pilots
STD air jets
2-1/2 turns on mixture screw
Stock clip postion (3rd groove both washers under)
BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE BREATHER HOSES FROM THE AIRBOX AND LET THEM HANG (MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT KINKED)
This is what the hauck sheet says. I'm assuming they are using the stock needles, as the sheet says nothing about changing out for a different one.

mopar1, those specs are for the Aaen pipes that hauck now sells, those will indeed blow/seize any viper engine using the cpr pipes that were made for the viper and sold thru hauck at 1 time, they are stamped "hauck" on them but were made for him by jeff@cpr. They had a falling out and now hauck uses Aaen built pipes sold under his name, hauck doesnt make any pipes, he merely buys them and sells them under his name, maybe this will clear up the confusion, the pipes being asked about in this thread are the cpr pipes.

i actually am running all stock jetting in mine except for the 165 mains. i put in the 47.5 pilot and it bogged down like mad, also had the needles changed but i put it back to stock as it worked better that way for me. i didnt have any issues for a long while with that set up until i started playing with big compression numbers. Mr.viper send me a pm with a price to cut the stock head with dcs please. i ran the cpr modded head and really liked how it worked with that, so now i know i want it done with the dcs.
