Hey guys. My viper idels high sometimes. Once it is warmed up and you come to a stop it will sit there and idle at about 4000 for about 10-20 seconds and then drop to normal idle. Sometimes if you just snap the throttle quick it will ilde down right away. Any thoughts? I was thinking mybe the air screws need to be adjusted?

Your too lean on the pilot circuit, adjust the pilot mixture screws out 1/2 turn(richer) or little more..should help..

daman, how do you adjust the pilots? they all have their own sizes. Screw in and tighten.

I am at 1 3/4 turns right now with 47 pilots. will it be ok to go out to 2 1/2? Or do you think i should go up to a 50 pilot?

If your that far out now you'll probly need to go bigger with the pilots

Are you running SLP's on a Viper????? If so I had the same problem when I had SLP's on my Viper(Which is back to single pipe) went to 50's and it fixed the idling problem. Just have to lean your fuel screws with the fatter pilot.

Is your viper piped? Why such a big pilot? Stock pilot is 45.

fuel srcews 1 7/8 stock but I cant see why you messed with these settings unless you piped it. If piped, I would listen to ExpertX.. If your piped and go to the 50 pilot, would try to lean fuel screws at 1.5 turns out and start from there.

BTW my idling problems occured with Mega heads with 24cc Viper Trails Domes, with a squish clearence set at .055-.057. If your running pipes with STOCK cut head, Id suggest getting it cut by CPR or Bender. So you can run straight across jetting, you CAN run the STOCK cut head BUT your jetting is going to be fatter on the MID and MAG cylinders do to the tighter domes on those 2 cylinders. Just makes jetting life easier having the same size CC domes across the board.

i have been running straight accrss jetting with the stock head. I guess it just makes the one cylinder a bit richer.

well there ya go.

try the 50 pilots, 1.5 turns out on the fuel screws, needle clip position in the middle with both shims on the bottom of clip.
