Hey guys, my sled is down at the shop and I wont be back for a while and I was curious if anyone could spend the time to get the airbox length, width and height dimensions. Also, was wondering what the center to center distance was between cylinders if anyone knows off hand. Lastly, does anyone know the closest possible distance that the steering post comes to the opening on the end of the carb. Thanks in advance.

Going to run filters?

I am going to have to recommend running the airbox. Filters on a trail sled aren't worth the aggrivation.

Bruce,

Cylinders are approximately 4.75 inches apart center to center.

Air box is 14.75 inches tall from the legs and 13.5 wide

Length is 7 & 15/16 measured from the left side (widest side behind CYL # 1)

I am not thinking of running Filters, I am thinking of running a Filter. I am just brainstorming and trying to see if there is a filter out there that will be larger enough for me to run a single K & N filter out there for all three cylinders. I am hoping that this will keep the tuning between the cylinders more consistant than running 3 individual filters. Am I wrong in thinking the tuning will be more consistant by running it this way?

Good post Bruce. See if you can make an adaper that points it upwards at a 45 degree angle so you wont have to worry about hitting anything.

I would love to see the results from this

It is actually Matt doing all of this rediculous thinking but I am just trying to see if a single filer will keep the tuning during winter times more consistant. Angling them would be a necessary part of this in order to avoid the steering post and all. I think I found the filter online to use, just need to find out if the tuning would stay consistant.

You're going to have a tough time keeping it from getting plugged with snow if you play in the snow.

The argument of running a single filter over individual filters is interesting. Running a single filter will give you more of a pressure equalization inside of the filter. I never liked running filters myself. Trying a single filter is something I have never done, or even thought of for that matter. I don't find that the tuning varies between the carburetors enough to require attempting something like this. I am interested to see other people's opinions though.

Wouldnt 1 single large filter act as an air box? In turn I am sure you would have to go up 2 sizes on the main from what your running right now. Maybe up a pilot size and bring the needles up 1 notch. It sounds more consistent but cant wait to hear the test results

Could equaling the pressure between the carbs also be cured by running a boost bottle AND run the single K&N filter? I would also LOVE to try to make a ram air kit for the SRX but I will take it one step at a time. I would love to hear more opinions on running a single large K&N filter for all three cylinders and how everyone would think tuning would be. Would it still be finiky or not?
