Concept Carbon - I would call your credit card and tell them they charged you more than they said they would and see if they can help you. Be honest about what happened, though.

the credit card company at the least is going to contact them about a claim that is filed with them. if they do not respond to it in a timely maner, they will suspend their card service till they do. also, contact the better buisness bureau and file a report. this will generate a notice to them that someone has an issue as well.
nothing may get done but atleast you will feal better.
i do miss maximum, nice on the phone, easy to deal with. would work with you on shipping. i even got them to tape some jets inside a letter to send me instead of the normal shipping charge. great people, i also like to think the lady on the other end was as nice looking as her voice. (please dont tell me different)
good luck on trying to get you money back.
the only things i bought from them were back in 99 when tim owned it. they seemed to have great service then.

Didn't you say they over charged you? Then when they shipped they did it wrong and charged you an extra $20 more than what they told you? Did you authorize that? Sounds like Bender is the fraud to me... I would reverse the charge until Bender contacts you to get it all straightend out. You attempted to contact them and they won't respond. Get your CC company involved.

Bender Racing is now owned by Dyno Port, the guys at the Bender shop are pretty much clueless and are only there a few days a week, and at Dyno Port the others.
I am sad to see the Bender Racing name getting disgraced, Tim Bender is a great guy and made that company a name, along with Yamaha.
FYI: The ex R&D / engine builder / tuner from Bender when Tim owned it... (prior to dissolving) has started his own business. Great guy, took all the knowledge and expertise with him. Very Customer focused you'll find...

I concur with the statements about Bender and their lackluster customer service and inability to tell you the truth. Here is my tale of dealing w/ Bender.
Back in the beginning of October 2009, I sent them an old crank, to have it repaired/indexed/welded. I blew out the middle piston/rod and bearings. Before sending them my crank, I of course called, and I was told about a one week turnaround. I was dealing w/ "Mike". Mike tells me that they do all their machining @ Dynaport, which is near Auburn, NY. Where I work, a co-worker lives in Auburn area, apprx. 15 miles from Dynaport. Says the owner of Dynaport is known as a good guy. Co-worker is into moto-racing. So I have my co-worker drop it off at Dynaport. I called after the crank was delivered and spoke w/ Mike. He tells me they got it, will be working on it right away and will be working on it today/tomorrow. Tells me they will call me back in a day or two to let me know the feasability of repair.
I call them back in two/three days, after no call from them. "Didn't get a chance to look at it yet, but will start workig on it today/tomorow scenario." That's where it begins. After a promised call back tomorrow, I once again call him back two days later after no call from them. "Didn't get a chance to look at it, really busy". But when I first called them, was told no problem, October is the good time to send it to them, as I'm ahead of the curve for work for them. This cat and mouse game goes on for apprx. 3 weeks. Puts a cramp in my buddy that rebuilds sleds as I was originally told a week turnaround w/ the crank, and my buddy sets aside garage space for my sled as he gets busy w/ other customers, so I go to the back of the line in repair schedule. After a months time, numerous phone calls, a 9 day vacation out of town, I finally get told by MIKE, that the crank would not be feasable to repair as the cost of replacing the damaged crank bearings and the indexing/welding would put me into the market for a used welded crank that "they" have, but their/that crank would still be a used crank w/ used bearings and all the miles/problems associated w/same. Needless to say I ended up springing for a new crank/indexed/welded from them, as I didn't want to deal w/ someone else's headaches, and got my original crank back.
Additionally, when I made plans for my co-worker to stop by and pick up the crank, as per MIKE, it would be back at Dynaport for my buddy to pick up, well, my co-worker stops there and no crank of mine there. Called Mike and was told he never got a chance to have it brought there. I told him a phone call would have been appreciated as he knew that I was having somebody pick it up. I ended up putting a call into Dynaport to talk to the owner of Dynaport/Bender racing. I never spoke to him, but left a mesg. w/ someone there about my crank not being there. Needless to say I actually got a phone call from MIKE, who now offered to UPS my cranks for no charge.
So to sum it up, a one week turnaround turned into a month and a half of no phone calls, and nothing but lies about everything.
I would tread lightly when dealing w/ Bender Racing.

Looks like the proof is in the customer service!
I just had a shitty experience with Bender myself. I call them up the other day to ask about some clutch parts and I get talking with a guy named Mike and about 20 sec into our conversation the phone dies. Immediatly I call back, no answer. So I wait for 3 min call back again no answer and the voice mail is full. They must haved missed that day in mechanic school when they teach you to KEEP YOUR SHOP FLOOR PORTABLE PHONE CHARGED, but oh well I called Hauck and they were more than happy to answer all my questions, give me some advise, take my money and ship my parts.
Just a little discontentment and dissatisfied, not out and out outrage like the others on the page.

I have had nothing but great luck dealing with Bender. Mike and Heathe are both great guys and really know their stuff. Over the years my friends and I have spent thousands of dollars with Bender and I have nothing but possitive comments to make.

i had a scenario very similar w/bender, back when i was in high school. i had a '99 700 srx and i wanted it ported. i sent my cylinders to them and they said they would have them done in 1 week. well that week is up and no call. so, i call and they didn't even start on the cylinders yet. wtf?? so, a few weeks on this BS of calls from me to them goes by and then 1 day i get a call, saying my cylinders are done and ready to ship. i should have them on thur. so, thur comes and no cylinders show up. within a few hrs, i get a call from bender, saying that they are going to start porting my cylinders and that the bores on the cylinders are shot and need to be replated. whatever?? the guy on the phone says, i have some ported cylinders on my shelf w/new plating, that i could sell to you for $1200 and i get your old ones. i said i don't think so. they just sent me my old cylinders back, w/o any work done to them. so, all i did was waste $$$ shipping cylinders back and forth to them. that was the 1st and last time that i delt w/them. i wouldn't deal w/bender at all. i had the cylinders checked out by 3 other local engine gurus at the time and they all said there was nothing wrong w/my cylinders. bender was just trying to get more $$$ out of a young guy at the time. f#$k bender!!!

how much longer is it gonna take before they go out of business? Shouldn't take to much longer I imagine. The word has to be getting around,or at least it is here. Why run a business if you can't even tell the truth to the customer about time it would take..excuse after excuse is kinda obvious isn't it.They are a lot of other guys out there that want the work and they will work hard to keep a customer or else don't be in business. You would think that Bender would of figured out the problem since there are a lot of unhappy customers out there.

thats too bad, i remember it when tim had it also and loved their work. i also miss maximum performance. bruce at pioneer performance is from maximum, i like dealing with him. he specializes in suspensions and tuning though, not so much the radical engines and such like bender and others specialized in. really knows his yamahas.
