I have read all the info on the Tech pages and most of the clutch set ups are for trail agressive trail or short drag races. I need a good clutch set up for a 2004 Viper S stock with no studs and an engine torque limiter. Looking for top end speed.

Talk to Jeff Simons at CPR performance. He is one of the site sponsors I believe. He set me up with a Heavy Hitter clutch kit that works very well for me. I am also stock with no studs and I have run topend with an F7 on a lake.

Huh?

Jeff Simmons will just set you up with Heavy Hitters.....don't bother. F7's generally dont have any top end so I would hope you could run with one. Send a PM to SRXMAGIC or MRVIPER700 or TURK. They can set you up. I have a set of 98 SRX 700 weights if you are interested. That's a pretty good weight for top end I understand. Can't remember the part number off the top of my head right now. I would imagine 8DN-20's could work for you too. Try those GURU's above.

04 ViperS Lake Race

Thanks guys, Which of these set ups will give me the most Bang for the Buck?? Money is kind of tight now that I am retired from the Military.

My used heel clicker and helix cost me $150US last year. Everything purchased from this site.

The heel clickers work extremely well on the viper. They gain huge accelleration and gain mph when set up right. In my opinion you can't beat the heel clickers on the viper.

Hey Ryan, I agree that the HC's are great on the lake but didn't you have some good success with Heavy Hitters too? Looks like this guy is on a budget and I've got some Heavy Hitter I'd like to sell him if they would work well for him. He's right here in NY too so maybe it would be easy for me to get them to him. Just a thought.

I would run a yami orange-silver-orange primary spring,15.6 rollers
a 50-40 helix and a green yami sec spring with the heavy hitters.

Altho I've seen and heard of allot of set ups...but Yamerdowns set up sounds interesting..from what he told me..not only can you gain 114mph top end..but with
a slight twist in the secondary it becomes an awesome trailable setup aswell...
Correct me if I'm wrong Yammer..but you got yer infor from MrViper700 correct?...
I'm gunna try the dalton helix that Mr700 recommended...but I wouldn't be surprised if
you stumbled onto a nice set up with the advant-edge helix..

Yes setup is based on inputs from Don. Works good for me, but there is always more then one way to skin a cat. I've heard of at least two other setups that hit 114MPH.

Also you can probably tailor most setups between lake and trail by adjusting secondary tension. Up for trail, down for radar.

I ran a 53/43 from cb performance and 4.5 gram rivets in both holes and green secondary spring at 70 deg. I have 1 inch track with 144 down the middle and saw 117mph on the dreamo last and im 250lbs.

That's the tech page set up,but about 105 actuall speed.

So is this 114MPH on radar you speek of with the H/C clutch set up on a stock sled??? Or do you mean with the tripple pipes/????

*****EDITED TO BE ULTRA CLEAR*****
Last year when I ran my 114MPH setup the sled was bone stock other then engine torque limiter, 144 trail studs, rear exchanger, reverse and obviously the clutch components. Stock single pipe into stock can. Machine had 7,000km on it and badly worn piston rings (check out the blow by in my working log). Even had the stupid original track on it and the stock gearing.

It did NOT have triple pipes and it did NOT have oversized idler wheels.

When you get there you will know.... dream-o-meter will read 126MPH. Multiply speedo reading by 0.905 to get a more accurate indication of how fast you are going.

8dn-20 weights 4.5 grams inner and outer, stock primary spring, 53/43 or 51/ 45 helix with a green secondary spring at 70 degrees wrap. If your engine is near stock and at low altitude this will be close and you will have to tune depending on what helix you end up with and your weight.
