I am considering getting a after market billet head for my 04 Viper S instead of having the stock head machined. I have head alot of talk on here about Mega heads, but have not been able to find where to buy them. Does anyone know? Are there any other brands of heads that you guys would recommend?

Mega Power Perf., Speedwerx, and Peak Perf. are your only opitions for A/M heads for a Viper. Places to looks for Megas are here, ebay, snowest, and HCS. Just have to keep any eye out, I normally post them in the classifieds when I find a set cause I know there hard to find. PM Viperlover he had a Speedwerx head with 24cc trail domes for around $200 if I remember correctly.

I looked for a long time for a used aftermarket head with DCS. I bought a new peak performance head for mine. They only make the peak head in titanium color now though. Not quite as flashy as the red.

so is mega out of business? I did a search for the peak performance website and didnt come up with anything either. I looked at the hauck heads a bit. I found the speedwerx website but it didnt list any of the yamaha products. I found a new speedwerx head on ebay for $250. Has anyone used one of these heads? Any pros, cons?

Mega power were made by Maxx Perf. They went out of business. Peak does not have a site. Here is there # 970-240-4233. I just bought a head for my SRX. They are super nice guys. Sent me the head and said just send us a check.

The Mega power heads were distributed by Maxx Perf., not made by them. They were made by a guy out east that used to hang out on amsnow alot, can't quite remember his name, but he was quite knowledgeable. It was during the early years of the Viper's existence. He got out of the biz and sold all the stock to Maxximum, if I remember right. Then Ulmer's picked up what was left, but I think they are out of them too. Hauck does have the Venom heads, not sure who makes them. Then Speedwerx and Peak are one piece heads with removeable domes. The Peak allows for the water shutoff to the carbs which is nice, the Speedwerx does not.

Always can go with SRX heads but youll need a Viper Mega Water rail so you have no clearence issues with the hood. I know the company that made the water rail for Mega(PM if interested) and they have very little stock left so Im told by the supplier. The SRX heads can either be set up with the steel gasket or have your cylinders cut for SRX orings that depends on you and your pocket. Pending what you do about gaskets the heads are more than likely need to be cut but thats something youd have to ask MRVIPER. IMO the SRX set up is they way to go, mainly cause finding replacement parts for the SRX set up will be much eaiser, cheaper, and cool just as good as A/M head.
