Hey guys,
I recently put on PI pipes. I just want to make sure there is anything i forgot. I got the pipes on, no trouble nice fit BTW. But i jetted the carb. I have the c-clip on the needle set of 4 (was on 3). I have 45, and 155 across the board. It had 152.5, and 42.5. I was wondering if there is anything else i should be adjusting on the carbs. Like are there any little fuel screws, air screws anything???????????? This was my first time in the carbs, I feel everthing went well. I just want to try and stay as far away as possible from a melt down. This one is my Dads sled, he would go CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
But please let me know if there is anythig i can do to avoid a melt down, or a f'ed up sled. Anything, I mean anything, THANKS SO MUCH.

I could be really wrong but your mains sound a little rich.
Just wanted to bring this to your attention.
I am sure TURK will chime in.

Please explain??????? (tomseal)
I will be pulling plugs as much as possible. But my dad rides this sled, so i wont be on it all the time to tinker with it. I know he wont. But i will have to ride it for the first little while. ANYTHING ELSE? does this sound good. I didnt move anything but the jets and the needle. Do i need to tinker with the fuel/air screws?

For your first run, you most likely will not blow it do to lean conditions...provided you follow a few tips here...I will first tell you I do not have any experience in a modified sled, however I did a few rebuilds & top ends all stock...if your open minded to a few suggestions, I will tell how I would go about this...start slow open to 1/8 throttle, hold the throttle open & hit the kill switch, pull the plugs & read them or take a photo to post later...keep doing this at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 & full , you will know if something is wrong after the last pull look inside the cylinders, should be a wash in there...look at your exhaust...is is black with rich fuel or white on the lean side or is is a little brown...anyways I hope that it all works out for you...cheers98700 said:ok.............. Do as theblues says and you'l be ok....
you'll need to adjust pilot jet(fuel screw) if your idle is hanging or a bog
off idle..how is your idle?

Me to mod, me to, lol. But i will be doing exactly what you said theblues. I will be doing a 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, WOT runs. I have a friend here that has some land, I guess I will waste a saturday tuning it. I need it to be perfect
.
Any more suggestions would be GREAT.

Turk says 142.5 mains with the stock pipes so it just sounds like you are going up alot for the pipes Are you going off the pipe companys specs?
The carbs havent been put back on the sled yet. I have been busy lately. What and where is the fuel screw?
Time spent tuning is never wasted, just makes that smile on your face stand out to the other coming across the lake & you are sitting on your sled with your helmet off...LoL...98700 said:Me to mod, me to, lol. I take along with me one of those infra red thermometers, I see if a head or cylinder is hotter than the other as well as the clutches...greet heads up tell tell if it's over heating...

Tomseal. I havent found any specs for the PI pipes. But I have a modified engine. So i dont think they'll be any help for me. When the all my motor work (listed in my sig) was done Gerry Iantomasi put 152.5 mains.
theblues, i didnt mean waste as a bad way. I know this needs to be done, an done right. This sled, is a quick sled, soon to be mine,. Thats why I am taking the time to do all this work to it now, lol.

bottom of the carbs...start at 2 turns out from lightly seated.98700 said:What and where is the fuel screw?

If your running a 700 sx-sx-r then 150 mains with #50 pilots is plenty rich. end dumps need to run at 8500 rpm & centre dumps like 8100 rpm.
TURK, this is a power valve SRX. Not the sxr.
You modded your SXR with these pipes right? Looking like you did your SRX and if you did it should be very close. My misteak
I have aported motro heads cut and drilled air box in my SRX. I run 150 PTO 148.8 center and mag.
