Hey guys. Does anybody have any different paint codes for the silver on Yamaha trailing arms. I can't find the Navistar silver m1930 k. Doesn't exist as far as I can tell, and the dupli color starlight silver crosses over to a Honda Car paint code NH638M but I can only get that in a touch up pen or 1 quart, plus hardener bla bla bla.. Nobody up here in Canada makes it in a spray can. I can't imagine doing trailing arms and tunnel extension with a touch up pen. Not going to happen.
Anybody know of a good cross reference chart.

Theres a web site than you can order it directly, do a search for touch up paint and you should find it...

Yes I did find that website but buy the time I pay shipping to Canada it would cost about $50 for a can of spray bomb. It's $23 here in Canada to get a can made up but I need to find a paint code or some silver paint that is similar. The trailing arms I don't care if the paint is a little different but I need a close match for the tunnel extension.
What about Yamaha street bike of the same year , did they use the same paint I wonder. I know I can get those codes easier. Just need to know if it was the same and the specific year.

See if Dupli-color can send you a sample to color match?

There should be a automotive body shop in your area. If you go to a larger one they will mix their own paint and should not have a problem matching something up for you. Otherwise any auto body supply distributor that sells paint can hook you up.
i have found that this one here is just about a perfect match for the silver trailing arms make sure you click on the last color on the color chart (silver matellic) it even has the small sliver metal particals like stock yamahas .. i pick mine up at the local walmart about 5 dollars a can http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=30

I was at the body shop and looked through about 10 books of paint chips. Man all those silvers kind of look the same after a while. I find with paint chips that the color doesn't really match the paint . Then its to late or repaint and try again. I am going to take off a radius rod and take it to the paint shops . Maybe I could feather the colors together where they meet and it woun't be so noticable.

I have buy a spray can of yamaha grey from duplicolor at Best Buy last year to paint the trailing arms of my 00 vmax. I don't know why you can't find it. I'm in Quebec. I will try to give you some information this weekend.
I own a body shop in Michigan and mix my own paint. I matched my trailing arms to a GM color last year and am happy with the results, the code is WA8867 from late 80's to late 90's GM trucks. I used a basecoat/clearcoat on mine, but you can have it mixed in a single stage or put into a spraycan. I hope this helps.

Stopped at another body shop. I told him what I was trying to do and he said I have just the paint. He had a bunch of cans with a little silver metallic in each one. Varoius shade, mixed them together and this is what he ended up with.. He said that he uses it to paint Chevy rear bumpers. He just happened to have a rear bumper there. I put one of my radius rods up against it and to me it looked exactly the same. Only problem is if I need more there is no paint code. I am going to use what he gave me spareingly. I think a Satin Silver from a 2001 Honda car is also a close match.
Paint was free so what the hell give it a try.

The paint I have is a Color Rite spray can of urethane colorcoat matches original factory color, and the paint code is : Yamaha 5962 SM1 660, Silver Metallic #1, Metallic Silver. Thats what is written on. I buy it at Best Buy auto parts.

I got my yamaha blue through best buy auto parts aswell... two spray bombs from quebec and $5 shipping here to ontario... $15 express showed up in about 3 business days. They have an online store you can buy the paint from, just match the sled year and pick the paint you want.
But if you already have the paint that the bodyshop gave you and it matches up so that you are happy with it... that's good!
